My music.
Hello everyone!
Apart from programming, I also create music (8-bit, glitch, metal). There were some releases in net-labels.
(i don't know if youtube will show this video)

Nice work...I liked the top one better than the bottom one. The bottom one was a little fast for me.
Please remember next time...elections matter!

Re: My music.
Since I was a teenager, making electronic music was something I always wanted to do. For some reason I never got around to it though. However, I was more interested in MIDI and it was because of this:-
I wish I had the talent to make something this beautiful. I'm not 100% certain it is MIDI though but this game came out in 1995 back when MIDI was still huge in gaming.
@The trick
Think you can make an 8 bit version of this?

Do you mean MIDI format or? Maybe MOD/XM? Usually a MIDI file is just a stream of MIDI messages.
Think you can make an 8 bit version of this?
Yes of course.

I'm not sure about the distinction. All I remember was that music from games in the 90s were described as being MIDI format and it has a very distinct sound. Such music can be composed entirely in software. I had a shareware version of a MIDI composer once like a decade ago. It was just a piece of software that allows you to combine a number of different instruments like drums and stuff into a complete musical piece.

Re: My music.
This is not my turf as I play guitar and scratch some bass, the regular way, but there where some excellent midi from the Roland chip Like Monkey Island and Space Quest 3 that I used as a ringtone from time to time.

Re: My music.
Yes of course, what else would you play on electric guitar?
But mostly classic Metal and some Angus gang stuff.
I also had a bass sample smudged somewhere in the forum, I think is on the thread that would not be named so I can't go through 100 Pages.
Good work btw, not my cup of tea but nice. There where also some nice Amiga samples back in the day, mostly on cracked presentations. Would you imagine.

Re: My music.
@thetrick - I'm digging your first 2 submissions. I'm a bit of a sucker for the "8-bit" sound in general, though I gravitate heavily toward SID/C=64 stuff...Nostalgia is a strong force in music! I guess it's a bit like the "old fogey's" that prefer to listen to AM radio.
Thanks for sharing this

The good old days of the amiga ... I installed an emulator where you can find almost everything. Amiga Inside
The emulation works really well.

hi
Regarding the VST sax, at the moment I could not indicate with certainty because I used it on a PC now in disuse.
I remember that among those I owned there was DSK SaxophoneZ - Free VST
...i am not sure if i used this though...

It occurred to me now another VST that I more likely used: SaxLab2
Not for sure though.

A thead materializes, asking about Trance music. Then an answer pop-ups in this old thread.
Someone seriously doesn't know how to code a spambot.

I'm glad that bot was here too, I like that first track Trick.
My favourite bit of (let's face it, it is 80s) computer generated music is Covox "Attack Vector". Prepare a volume up boost at 01:00 and find a space to dance.
(OK, it isn't 8bit, however, it IS 16bit so it almost counts)

Heck yeah, my musician and programmer people. Some cool stuff you got, trick. I listened to a handful on your YouTube channel during my lunch.

A few of the last pieces of music I've been working on. I actually haven't written much music in the last few years. Depression and work are dumb.
But I've got literally hours and hours of mostly incomplete songs I've written.. hah. Ah well.
It's cool to see so many other people here that write as well.

Yes, good music. I love 16 bit music from Sega Genesis games like Vectorman / Contra Hard Corps.

It's been a while... and now as I listen back to them, I see places where I wish I could re-tweak things.
The Storm -- don't have the sources for this one anymore sadly...
The Island -- this one.... yeah, I still have and there are places for improvement.
I guess it's like any art, you're happy with it at the time... but then later when you come back... eeeeh... a little bit of rewriting feels right.

This was little bit tricky to listen this (soundcloud is blocked in my country). I liked the Island track with this cinematic / ambient mood. I tried sometimes to do something similar but my DAW host is quite old (Orion) and 32 bit which doesn't support heavy-weight VST / samples. I used an old version of Orchestral VSTi. Wouldn't it be a secret to find out your VSTi for classical instruments?

Re: My music.
I use Ardour for my DAW - primarily because it works on Linux - it's cross platform - a some of my loops & samples come from free sources I've found out there, but there's also been quite a few I've bought over the years - the source of which escapes me at the moment. I'll look it up later when I'm on my other machine.
Outside of that I don't really use anything special - no plugins or heavy production. I typically just work with what I have.
-tg
edit - I'll see if I can move them to a different host where they're more accessable.
