In stores like Cabelas, they'll get in a new shipment of guns, pistols and semi-autos especially, and often times the majority will be sold within a week or two, so if you're trying to find a specific gun, it can be very hard. Ammo is even worse, and if you try buying it they'll put you on a waiting list of several months.

Glocks are actually about the safest, most durable gun for their price, too. Hence why law enforcement favors them. The shooting yourself in the leg is probably your own fault, or a certain model that probably got recalled. Law enforcement where I live uses a Glock 22, which is in .45 instead of .40, but either way it's still a great gun
