    Exclamation Australia s-c-r-a-p-e home. Lucky!

First Oz/SA cricket test starts today. It's a bit hazy right now, but it's only 8am so that'll go soon and I reckon it'll be a hot clear day. TV said about 26 max I think, maybe thundershowers late afternoon.

    Play starts at 1030Lima, 0830Zulu.

Pollock's out hurt; Boucher is the Skipper, in his 50th test, and the first time in 70yrs a Wickie's been an SA test captain. Andre Nel's in for Pollock.

Oz are 161/2 (ie 2 runs for 161 wickets) 36 overs.

Weather still fine, could storm later.

Blimey, the Aussies are in a hurry. You must miss Pollock

What's Donald bowling like these days? I guess he's not as quick as he was, he's getting on for a quicky.

England play NZ tommorrow on a Portable pitch

I just realised why the Aussies are in their yellow strip: they think it's an ODI!

What's a portable pitch: you mean just the wicket or the whole oval?

    Awesome 6th wicket

Gilchrist & Martyn huge 6th wicket still going. Run rate so far well over 4.

Someone tell these guys it's a test, not an ODI.....

Kallis dropped someone again today btw....

    It's a draw

A blizzard is expected tomorrow Sunday, and the 3ft of snow on the ground will collapse the underlying goldmines on Monday. The resulting earthquake will render play impossible on Tuesday.

But Wow, what a performance from Australia. That will teach us to spit on people, which pisses them off so much that they just move up a gear- not that they were stuck in low to start.

The Oz wickie must be a tad tired- 200+ no, then has to man the stumps 10min later.

    Well played guys.

10 mins in to Sunday's play, Oz take a wicket.

Last night's blizzard was much milder than hoped for. Almost non-existant, in fact.

3 wickets in 1/2 hour, SA 114/7. At this rate we'll be lucky to loose by only 1 innings?

I think we should declare, then declare the 2nd innings too, and all go spend a few days in the Kruger Park drinking beer.

is it true that Australia declared at 7 for 3042 ? Maybe they are bringing back those "play until a result" rules we spoke of before Jim.

    SA lose by 2 innings

    159 all ot

At this rate we should be made to follow-on twice for the game's first recorded 2-innings defeat.

    Captaincy?

I wonder how much of the SA performance is down to Boucher's lack of captaincy experience? All through the Aus innings, all the commentators were querying field placements: what's that guy doing here (marks x on screen), should be over here (x) for the left hander yadda yadda.

Never mind 3rd umpire technology, the screen scribble pen is surely the most important innovation in cricket in the last 100 years. maybe more.

Oh and the comparison bar charts of each 10 overs. Used to think they were as pointless as all the other stupid charts until the other day when it completely tripped up Ian Chappell and made him look like more of a dick than usual...

Aus wins by an innings and 360 or something. Only SA who impressed me was newbie Prince. He looked scared ****less but looks like he might perform in future.

    Well done OZ!!!!

Not a bad performance. I think we should sack our captain and brink in some...erm... newbies... that would boost performance in the remaining game. (We won't need 3 of course... )

Well blow me down quicker then Jethro's mother-in-law!
I dont mean to rub it in Jimbo but 10/159 and 10/130 somthin! is well remarkable achievment by Australia. The 2nd biggest win in test hitsory.

S.Warne moved to take 436 tests wickets 2nd only now to the great west indian Coutney Walsh's 519. Really doesnt seem that far away now does it? Can he do it.
Gilchrist makes 200 in 212 the fastest 200 since the started coutning balls faced!
Marto and Gilly make 330 somethin the 2nd highest 6th wicket partnership to Bradman and ???Roberts i think????
Warne takes 80 wickets against South Africa the most by any Australian.

Gilchrist has the 3rd highest average by an Australian in test cricket after playing more than 10 matches. This is from a guy he didnt start playing test cricket till his 28th birthday because they though Healy was a better assest! Wonder if the selectors like them lemons! Bunch a ****wits! Oh yeah and Ponting is a much better 1 day captain the gilly would be. DICKHEADS!

Oh Haydens 122 was as good as gilly's 200 set the whole innings up.

Now get this as i understand it if SA Square the series they take the World Champion Trophy!

    Well ...

Yeah, their chance of entering the super six is not too dim. Sri Lanka will try to beat them because they must be upset over the loss to Kenya.

However it's the host nation jinx that makes me feel SA won't be taking the world cup this time. Zimbabwe and Kenya are no contenders at all. And I don't remember if the hosting nation has lifted the cup in the past. Maybe once, but it's rare. Therefore I think SA may not win. Not that they don't have a chance.

Australia and Sri Lanka are favourites based on the performance. I would personally prefer Oz more than SL. However India and West Indies are the "lucky" teams, if at all they make it to the super six. Luck might see one of these two teams through.
