I think the only thing that has ever motivated him is one thing, and that is personal gain and gratification regardless of who has to suffer.

Look at pretty much his entire business career and relationships - the 34 fraud convictions, Trump University, delaying / refusing to pay bills, tax fraud, attitude to sex (convicted sex offender, comments about grabbing women by the p***y etc, cheating on his first wife, highly likely to have cheated at least twice with his current wife), charging the secret service to use Mar-A-Lago, denial of losing the election and the subsequent Jan 6th invasion of the Capitol, pardoning all the Jan 6th criminals (including the ones who had assaulted the police).

He is driven by personal gain and revenge, pure and simple.

You left out a wife. He's cheated on all three of them.
