Bought my first Gun

What's with US people and allowing guns. Constantly someone will flip, go in a school and start shooting. Meh.
I shot handheld - rifles - cannons - flamethrowers - lasers (in some point i think i may have exaggerated) in the army (mandatory in Greece) and any hidden wishes i had to fire a gun came true and went away. So after that i ehh kinda stopped thinking about guns (aka ksekaulosa), I don't know, something about not like everyone get one and start killing each other.
Anyhow here the people that have guns are politicians and the richest businessmen. Probably worried that they may be in danger because they are screwing the Greek people, and they are correct but personally i wouldn't use a gun on them, nope, too peaceful....I mean the gun is too peaceful for them. I would have used piranha or a nice boiling or crucifixion or conium, ahh the good ol' days! So imagine (now that you have seen that i am an unstable revengeful fellow) allowing me to have a gun and i just happen to come across a politician. Should i use it for my own protection? After all he is stilling my money and country, let alone that i would be doing everyone a favor.
Ok so the conclusion is that you are allowed guns so at least use them for a good cause, rather than hunting down innocent animals. Help your country, you alone can kill a lawyer, try it, it's good fun!

I will have to keep it at a friends house because my dad told me he will not allow a Rifle in this house. Still worth it.

The friend is a girl and she lives only with her mother. No one ever visits their house. The gun will be hidden away in a closet. Even contemplating buying a cheap safe just for their house. Saw a long gun safe on sale for like $90... Thats good enough for what I need, for now.

I can guarantee they do not want possession of my gun. And in California, guns are required to be registered. Until I transfer the gun, I will remain the owner. I run into trouble if someone steals my gun and commits a crime with it.

If I place it in a safe in their house and I am the only one with keys, Its in my possession.

I'm originally from Texas. When you travel to Texas the first thing they do is check you for guns. And if you don't have any, they give you one.

I'm soon to buy a Taurus .45. Why a .45 you ask? Because they don't make a .46.

Well...maybe not that current but for many purists they are still scum. They are slowly getting their reputation back after what was perceived by many as selling out to the federal government. For awhile their name was in the gutter and I think a English company owns them now. I think it was around 2000 when "when faced with sliding sales and a series of government lawsuits pushed by gun control advocates, it reached an agreement with the Clinton administration aimed at policing sales and promoting safety measures. Many distributors and dealers refused to stock Smith & Wesson guns".

It's too bad because personally I pretty much consider them quality guns. I think the boycott, for what it was worth, may be over now.

Just saw this...

I have been teaching civilians, military and LEO for the past decade, many of these students will run out and purchase a firearm without knowing if the firearm fits them properly. With that said, Glock pistols prior to generation 4 did not fit properly into the hands of many people which leads to struggling with the firearm to get good hits on target. Make sure to get professional training (especially being in CA where they are extremely strict with firearms as I am sure you already have found out). When you do get trained hopefully those who teach will not have you doing what I call "listen for the trigger reset" and then pull the trigger again. Competition shooters using Glock pistols will shave milliseconds off their times by using this technique which is bad for the street (feel free to PM me for more on this).

In regards to the Glock trigger, being the owner of (and I am more in favor of 1911's) G19, G26, G30, G23, G27 all second generation I can say that they are not overly sensitive unless you were to compare them with say a S&W revolver. If it bothers you then Google "Glock New York Trigger " which will in simple terms increase what it takes to pull the trigger.

Glock handguns have all internal safeties which is great, the real safety is "keeping your finger off the trigger until ready to pull the trigger". When drawing from a holster, your hand should resemble how children pretend their hand is a pistol, index finger on side of firearm frame, not the slide, same for placing the firearm back in the holster.

In regards to .40 S&W cartridge, not bad in regards to stopping power. Search enough on Google and you are bound to find articles that say they blow up. As mentioned early, I teach and have thousands of hours on the range with all types of firearms, many being Glock's chambered for .40 and never seen a Kaboom.

In closing, Glock's are one of the most reliable pistols you can buy yet at the same time as mentioned earlier may not fit. Fourth gen have removable backstraps while to do the same with earlier models there is a process to reduce the backstrap to better fit smaller hands.

I was at a gun show a few weeks ago; there was perhaps 10 to 12 M&P 15-22 rifles at basically list price (as well as a Savage Arms 110BA in 338 Lapua, but that's another story). But it is ammo, ammo, ammo.

While the US gov. is 'stockpiling', it's also individuals stockpiling, too. A double whammy. A lot of ammunition manufacturers are contracted to prioritize federal orders.

Very good idea to stock pile. I purchased 5000 rounds of .223 several years ago and 30 cents a round, they are in a gun safe now. Try buying .223 in bulk now and expect to pay a great deal more. Did the same with handgun ammo and shotgun ammo but on a lesser scale.

In all honesty, I dont understand why people would consider putting a finger on the trigger if you dont intend on shooting. Obviously there are stupid people. Since I got my holster (Blackhawk Serpa) I have heard a lot of of stories of people getting "Glock Leg". When practicing unholstering, I have yet to catch myself putting my finger on the trigger. My finger always ends up on the side of the gun extended all the way out.

I originally did not want to get a glock chambered in .40, but I settled on it because it was the only gun they had in stock that I was comfortable with. I havent had a problem with 40 and I have gone through several hundred rounds of Reloads without a problem.

It is illegal to import or manufature hi-cap mags in California. So no need lol.

So far I love my Glock and it hasn't given me any problems. I recently shot a M&P 380 Bodyguard, LAPD model. I really liked the trigger pull on it. It was way longer than the glock pull but I didnt anticipate the bang as much as I do with the Glock.

This can happen with any weapon yielded by a careless user, but it is common among Glock pistols due to the lack of a manual safety, relatively light trigger pull, and lack of a proper hammer to push on while holstering.

I was really surprised to get so many hits on "Glock leg" on Google. Some really beat up on them. I never cared for them just because how they feel and don't know much about them. Give me a model 1911 Colt .45 any day.

I have a CCW or CHL for OR, NH, FL and UT, also a NRA instructor and Certified arm security in OR. I know all to well about CA, our group was invited down to CA back in 2002 to teach a department, we asked for temp CHL and were denied because they thought this would lead to others asking and would start a trend, go figure. Yep CA should be called "Screw you but we will take your money anyways"

FL - Have friends there, also teach and train
UT - Never been there, it is cheaper to have this than a WA which neighbors OR.

Our group teachs/certifies for state requirements for OR and UT.

I took my CCW class in Nevada and subsequently applied for Nevada. The place also touched on Florida law and gave me a packet to apply in Florida. They said that applying for both Florida and Nevada gives the most coverage. I havent applied for Florida (yet) because its $112 fee.

Depending on where you live in California, its easier to get a CCW. In the North and east counties it is a lot easier than in LA/OC/SD. Kern County will issue one on the spot (or so I heard) where as Orange County requires a background, polygraph, interview, psych, etc all paid by the person applying. It could easily run up to $500 just to carry concealed. There is one loop hole: if you happen to know a Chief of Police or Sheriff, they can issue CCW to anyone.

DE are way cool for plinking at the range, I never owned one but a friend does. When they take others out shooting they are given one round in the DE because several times a shooter screwed up and ended up shooting a second round in the air or the pistol would come back, hit them in the face, shooter flinched, pulled off another round. Yep, nice flame.

What brand is the AR you are getting i.e. Bush master, Colt etc.
If you are looking for a really good sling look at the one 5.11 company has.

Find the gun shows. While it won't exactly be cheap, if you get there early, you might catch it before they are all gone. However, I'd educate yourself on different types of ammo in a given caliber: it's not all the same - cheap ammo may be cheap for a reason.

Having said all that, it wouldn't surprise me if Cali doesn't have gun shows...

I love 5.11! And I got a S&W M&P 15 Sport. I threw on a Primary Arms 30mm Red dot as well.

Yeah I have done research. This ammo is Federal ammo and its the decent stuff. I bought the cheap stuff and found out I cant shoot it anywhere because its a fire hazard.

Pick the right time of year and you can't even shoot a bow and arrow up here due to the fire hazard. That's not an exageration, either, though it sounds like it ought to be. I know somebody who barely got on top of the range fire they started when they missed a target and hit a rock with an arrow. That was all it took.

This discussion does remind me how nuts you all are in the good old U S of A, (meant in the nicest possible way)

I don't know anyone who owns a gun (btw - air rifles don't count), I have never even met anyone who owns a gun , and when i walk down the street i can pretty much guarantee nobody has a gun.

Sometime you do hear about gun crime in the UK and it tends to go like this - some young gang member has shot another young gang member today in the poorest area in the city.

The average person will never and i mean never come into contact with a gun and i for one am quite happy about that i don't find my life of any less value because of it, in fact i barely think about it.
