    Bought my first Gun

I bought my first handgun last Friday. I bought a Glock 23 which is a .40 caliber compact.

Any other glock owners out there?

They aren't as beloved in the US as you might think either.

    Guns don't kill people, people with guns kill people. {smiley face retracted}

    Re: Bought my first Gun

Currently it is difficult to buy any type of gun because everyone is worried that they wont because to purchase them in the future. This gun will be for home protection and I would like to get a CCW. Too many crazy people are surfacing and causing a ruckus. I also would like to get into Law Enforcement in the future.

    That's an odd caliber...kind of like a 10mm short.

I took it to mean that the market is so tight with people buying guns, because of feared restrictions, they are hard to find.

I think that second 'because' was supposed to be 'be able'. Still, the statement itself is a bit odd. A fear of future restrictions has generally caused an increase in sales, not a decrease. In fact, ammunition and gun sales are so far up that it is helping out agencies that get Pittman-Roberts funds (a tax on guns and ammunition sales distributed to the states for wildlife management based on the number of hunting license sales, or something like that).

I'm not thrilled with the Glock cause they have a reputation for having an overly sensitive trigger. When you have an ailment named after you (I think it's something like "Glock Leg", which occurs among law enforcement as a result of accidentally shooting yourself in the leg by misfiring while drawing), you are doing something wrong.

    Re: Bought my first Gun

It's true. In stores like Cabelas, they'll get in a new shipment of guns, pistols and semi-autos especially, and often times the majority will be sold within a week or two, so if you're trying to find a specific gun, it can be very hard. Ammo is even worse, and if you try buying it they'll put you on a waiting list of several months.

Glocks are actually about the safest, most durable gun for their price, too. Hence why law enforcement favors them. The shooting yourself in the leg is probably your own fault, or a certain model that probably got recalled. Law enforcement where I live uses a Glock 22, which is in .45 instead of .40, but either way it's still a great gun

None of that, actually. Law Enforcement favors them because Glock focused a massive marketing campaign on them, and the shooting yourself in the leg is ALWAYS at least partially your fault, but the model wasn't recalled. It was a feature, not a bug.

This is my first time hearing about "Glock Leg". I have only heard good things about Glocks and how safe they actually are. Im sure it also depends on the type of holster in use. I would think the holsters that hold the gun with pressure on the trigger guard would be more prone to problems.

Glock 22 is .40. Glock 21 is .45. Unless of course they swapped out the barrel.

What unfortunate naming conventions. I guess there will never be a .22 Glock, cause what would they name it? Glock 40, perhaps?

All men have an inherent right to life, the right to self determination including freedom from forced or compulsory labour, a right to hold opinions and the freedom of expression, and the right to a fair trial and freedom from torture. Be aware that these rights are universal and inalienable (cannot be given, taken or otherwise transferred or removed) although you do risk losing the aforementioned rights should you fail to uphold them e.g Charles Taylor; United Nations sources: http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/, http://www.ohchr.org/EN/Professional...ages/CCPR.aspx. Also Charles I was beheaded on the 30th of January of 1649 for trying to replace parliamentary democracy with an absolute monarchy, the same should happen to Dr Phil and Stephen Fry; source: http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...ute-Monarchism.

The shortage in ammo is in part because the U.S. Government is buying so much for DHS. 1.7 billion rounds or so. It is, in my opinion, an underhanded and unjustifiable way to slow down the market. Our tax dollars at work!

Fava beans are broad beans: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fava_beans
Chianti is a wine from the Chianti region in central Tuscany Italy (Located in central Italy along the Tyrrhenian coast): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chianti
I have heard that the combination should go very well with the game you target in your hunting expeditions. Perhaps you could try the recipe next hunting trip?
