Resolved [RESOLVED] --|| Assembling a new PC - Suggestions needed ||--

    Hi guys

My bro is going to buy a new PC. I am collecting some info about the parts. I am using an online shopping site for reference. But we are going to a local shop for the purchase. We don't know whether all models are available there. Anyway, I am trying to select the components.

    Our budget is 27000 INR(~ 530 $).

For the processor, the list are here.
Among that, I am looking at one of the 6K range processors.
Would AMD FX4100 be a good choice ? Or AMD Phenom II ?

For Graphics Card, I am looking at these listings.
Among them, I am looking for one in 3K range. Would Zotac NVIDIA GeForce GT240 1 GB GDDR5 be a good choice ? But only 1 GB and have GDDR5. But the GT520(of Sparkle & Zotac) has 2 GB GDDR3.

Also, suggest me a good cabinet(Cooler Master or some good ones) and a good motherboard for all these.

All computer components are available at this page: http://www.flipkart.com/computers/components

Please help me in choosing a good one.

The main use of the PC would be to do Photoshop designing, coding(VB.Net, PHP, use of Netbeans IDE, etc.), gaming(some super games).

We are not looking at a very high end PC. Please help us choosing the components.

    Thanks in advance

Since prices in India differ from what they are here in the US, it's tough for anyone to recommend any specific components. For example, a good computer case here can go well over 100 USD, but the same case may be only 50 USD in your country, or may even be 20 USD in China... If you list out how much you're willing to spend on a component/subsystem, we might have a better idea of what to recommend.

    Thanks

I would remember to include it the next time. Because yesterday, we purchased the machine.

    Config is as follows:
    • AMD FX4100 Processor
    • ASUS M5A97 Motherboard
    • 4 GB Corsair RAM
    • Forsa Nvidia GT520 2 GB DDR3 Graphis Card
    • iBall PC Cabinet
    • Microsoft Keyboard/Mouse
    • LG 20" LED Monitor
    • 500GB HardDisk
    • Numeric 600 UPS

It exceeded more than our budget. And we have to give postdated check in lieu of the remaining amount.

The main thing I liked was the BIOS of this Motherboard. It had given me a visual treat. Never seen one like this.
Kind of an interface seen in games.

Anyway, this PC is not for me...! It's for my bro. I am planning to upgrade my PC soon.

You should have bought Phenom II X4 960T. It has 4 real core unlike FX4100 which has 2 cores and 2 modules. You could have even unlocked the 960t to 6 cores if you were lucky. Anyway, FX is also a good choice and power efficient than 960T(45nm) as FX is 32nm.
    Anyway, Congrats Buddy.

    Thanks

But we were more concerned with budget. So, the local dealer(whom we have brought about 6 PC for the whole family since some years) suggested to go with these instead of higher configs.

Windows 7 rates the PC with >7 for all components and for "Graphics for AeroGlass", it rates 4.5 or something.

Have tried playing Brothers in Arms, COD4:MW, GodFather 2 and Rainbox Six: Advanced Warfare. Plays smoothly and is showing good details.
Haven't tried any most recent games yet.
Haven't upgraded the driver for GraphicsCard. Still using the one which came with the card.

FYI, Phenom II X4 960T is priced more or less same as the FX4100. It's not costlier than the FX4100. That's why i commented about 960T.

4.5 for a DDR3 is great. But a 512MB GDDR5 can perform better than this 2GB DDR3. If you were to buy a gpu next time, Remember to buy a GDDR5.

    I didn't know that.

Yeah, I was thinking about that Zotac 1GB DDR5. But the local dealer didn't had it in stock. And he suggested this one.

I should keep this in mind for upgrade that I am going to do for my PC.

    Yeah...

I am attaching the pic of bios here. The PC cabinet is just a normal iBall cabinet. Wish to buy that alienware cabinet.
