    " I'm making a POS"...

    I'm I the only one who reads this as "I'm making a Piece Of Sh**" instead of "...Point Of Sale"? Every freaking time?! And isn't it ironic that point of sale terminals are often pieces of sh**?

    It is interesting you bought this up because a couple of days ago I was listening to abc radio and someone rang in saying that "lol" used to mean "lots of love" whereas today it means "laugh out loud". That it why I tend not to abbreviate what I am writing/typing because it could confuse people.

    When it comes to software development I always associate 'POS' with 'Point of Sale', everywhere else I think of 'Piece of Sh**'

    Though if you are making a 'Piece of sh**', talk to Ford, they're great at making crappy cars.

    Just like the word 'fаg' means cigarette, but these days it's a slander on homosexuality. Just like 'Gay' is an alternate word for happy, but again it has to do with homosexuality (though I would think even if someone is gay, they'd still be happy with their lover just like anyone else so the word gay still half applies to it's original meaning)

    The very first time I ever heard POS was back in the late 70's/early 80's and it meant Personal Operating System and was what made those odd things called personal computers work.

    Then Personal Operating System became Disk Operating System, and thus DOS was born for personal computers (although DOS had been around on mainframes since the beginning of forever)

    To this day, I still think Personal Operating System when I see POS.
