Re: Stargate Universe
It's somewhat getting better, I almost gave up on it completely, I'll prolly finish season 2 here and judge it from there.

Re: Stargate Universe
Just watched the cloverdale episode of season 2. It was actually pretty good.

Re: Stargate Universe
It has varied wildly from the formula used in the rest of the Stargate franchise. Its pace is agonizingly slow and basically nothing ever happens - one episode of material gets played out over one season. Everything is shot either in dark gloom or desert sun. Budget I suppose.
I'd be amazed to see a Season 3.

I also feel that almost nothing happens in most episodes. I am always amazed at how little happened in that 45 minutes.

then why watch ? do you enjoy the suffering ?
Seriously though as i Science Fiction fan i do sometimes despair over the poor and formulaic TV adaptations that we get served up especially when there is much good material out there to work from, but amongst the dross there is the odd glimmer of light.
If you were dumped on a desert island with just one box set to watch though what would it be ?

The one that is large enough to provide shelter.

I would go for a white one so that I don't burn my feet.
Delete it. They just clutter threads anyway.

Re: Stargate Universe
I tried watching that show in the hopes that, perhaps, soon, oh-maybe-next-episode, they might just actually start with the sci-fi.
But then it hit me. This is a soap opera for people too scared of sci-fi. The show just happen to be on a spaceship. I raged and raged but nothing changed.

Re: Stargate Universe
I really enjoy the show. It's a great change of pace from the previous series. As with any ensemble cast, the show is clearly focused on the characters, and their intriguing developments.
What exactly do you expect to happen aboard a space ship? In my estimation the show captures the realism of the isolation, personal conflict, and relationships that'd be present in such a scenario.
Apparently the complaint is the show is not compartmentalized enough? As with SG1 or Atlantis you could likely watch the episodes for a season out of order and not much would be lost. There's so little(if any) in the way of actual plot development in each single episode. And often "near" episodes had pretty much nothing in the way of progressing upon each other. They're mostly stand-alone, so to speak. SGU is certainly not going for the tiresome repetition of the past series(it clearly did not work for Atlantis). Most episodes of SGU are continually advancing plot lines. Watching them out of order would likely make you feel lost very quickly. Sure, you could call this behavior "soap opera"-like, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, IMO.
Now don't any of you forget to take those ADD meds! Man was not made to have the attention span of a gold fish.

I think they need to use the stargate more often.

I think it's cool how they have the onboard stargate and full access to the ship plus a seeder ship now, but the drama crap? yea... they've totally screwed up the whole show cause of it.
More action would be nice too.
