My house mate thinks that, in ancient times, Irish gypsies colinised Egypt and built the pyramids. His basis for this belief? The only two places in the English Language where the contruct 'gyp' occurs are in the words Egypt and and gypsy => it must be true. I remember telling another mutual freind about this and his response was "That's rubbish... everyone knowns it was the Egyptians who colonised Ireland!". Sometimes I despair of my freinds.
