The trial is only 90 (30+60) days - but according to what I have been told, you can make it permanent by entering a proper serial number.

..however, they are only trial versions that last for 90 days, so I would recommend going for the free VB 2010 Express edition (http://www.microsoft.com/express/Dow...0-Visual-Basic ) which is not shown there.

As you are new to VB.Net you'll be spending most of your time working out the code, so won't be able to properly work out the extra features of one of the trial editions.

The chances are that the Express edition will be good enough for you anyway, in which case the other editions would be a waste of money - but if you do have a need to upgrade later, you can get a trial then to make sure you are buying the right one.
