Ash and Lightning

Explanation: Why did the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland create so much ash? Although the large ash plume was not unparalleled in its abundance, its location was particularly noticeable because it drifted across such well populated areas. The Eyjafjallajökull volcano in southern Iceland began erupting on March 20, with a second eruption starting under the center of small glacier on April 14. Neither eruption was unusually powerful. The second eruption, however, melted a large amount of glacial ice which then cooled and fragmented lava into gritty glass particles that were carried up with the rising volcanic plume. Pictured above two days ago, lightning bolts illuminate ash pouring out of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. (from apod)
Nice.

Very nice shot. Do any of you VBForumers that are in Europe have pictures of your own that you've taken showing what the ash cloud looks like from your perspective?

Nah, who cares, we're all going to be dead soon anyway." But they didn't die, and it was very awkward the next day, and the horse was totaly embarrassed, now everyone calls him a fudge packer.

How do you say "Eyjafjallajökull"?

I'm going to boycott that volcano until they name it something that can be pronounced by a normal person...or by me, whichever is easier.

My attempt at pronunciation would be : sounds like eye-jaf-jalla-joe-kull.
Now was that so difficult. It may not be correct but it's a start. And who is it that's rating almost all the recent Chit Chat threads 5 stars.
