Maybe we should not separate and group ourselves by such criteria? No matter where we are from We are programmers first and foremost.

Actually i am not mortified by it it's a legitimate group.
I am just saying that anybody at vbforums shouldn't be discriminated against in that way.

Us Brits are legendary for forming our own social groups and excluding foreigners wherever we go so I'm certainly not going to criticise.
I am, however, going to set up my own British Group, invade your Indian Group, steal everything of value from your group for the next few hundred years before dividing your group into two conflicting factions and heading for the hills. Bizarrely, you'll still be grateful and insist on joining the "We used to be members of the British Group" group.

Interesting analogy.
Everything that has a computer in will fail. Everything in your life, from a watch to a car to, you know, a radio, to an iPhone, it will fail if it has a computer in it. They should kill the people who made those things.- 'Woz'

Why not just outsource the whole operation?

Instead of creating such groups here, you should set it up outside the VBForums arena. We have managed to keep the discussions here to Technical and Non-Technical categories only. It would be against the spirit of this forum to start a group for Indians or for any other country/religion/ideology etc.
You have Yahoo Groups, MSN Groups, Google Groups to set up a common group. You could then post the links in your sig, so if anyone wants to sign up, he/she/it could use it.
Going beyond whether we are programmers first, we don't want to be recognized by any specific brand such as religion or country.

Re: Anyone from India....???
It looks like all are misunderstanding....
Everyone is thinking about it's negative side... No one is interested in it's positive side...
A positive look:
- Suppose a person from my country wants to ask a question in VBForums. And he doesn't have good knowledge in English(only assumption). So, if he wants to interact with the members, he needs to express his thoughts using English language. But if he knows that, there are other members from the same country, then he can PM/contact them for their help. And he can express the thoughts/question in his regional/national language.
- If there is any country specific events (like festivals - onam, holy, etc...), the members of that group can wish greetings to them, Or they can ask for joining a public meeting/ report new events, etc.....
That's what I think....!
And please don't think that, I am trying to do some partitioning among the members....

An American or Norwegian poster could help an Indian too. As for contacting members only from India, again why should the user restrict himself to only Indian members?
For events specific to a country, you can post it as a thread in the Chit Chat.
The very idea of creating something different for a specific country goes against the nature of an internet forum which is visited by people all around the world. We are here to cross the national/cultural/religious boundaries and become a community beyond such boundaries.
This may sound a little rude, but if you are thinking of starting an India specific forum/group here, you haven't yet understood the true nature of this forum.

Re: Anyone from India....???
It is just a social group, which is a kind of 'private' chit-chat... they aren't for technical questions etc, and due to the focus of this site they don't get much activity at all.
It certainly isn't the first group to have this kind of limitation, there was already a Pinoy one (other groups include MVPs and photography).
akhileshbc's comment about non-English speakers is a good one, as we do get people who can't write a question in a way that we can understand it - and somebody else who speaks their language (which they can find via the group, rather than moderators trying to find someone) could help them communicate with the rest of us.

Please don't think like that...
I was just trying to give the possibilities or advantages....
The following link is to give you some idea....
Pinoy Developers.
(Please note that, I am not trying to involve the creator or the group, that I had mentioned above, into this thread or subject(means, I am not trying to make that group to be criticized) . I am only trying to give you an example, to show what I had said earlier. )
News:I think I lost the only member (other than me), in my group now( I checked the group and found that he had left the group )....
Many thanks to all your views and comments(to all the posters in this thread)....
I am going to remove my group by sending a request(PM) to a Moderator(as I don't know how to remove it manually... )...
Bye everyone....

Thanks si .... for your post...
I was really sad after viewing all the comments and posts, that others had posted....
So, si, no one looks interested in that group. Can you remove it...??? (is it possible to remove it myself...???)
Regards,

@akhileshbc
The idea of a group for Indian posters is a good idea.
I think you should advertise the group by posting it in your signature. There is nothing wrong with that.
As for important events you could post them as a thread in the chit-chat forum. I am sure other Indian posters (like me) would respond to these threads.
thanks

Don't be sad because someone opposed your idea. In a public forum, you will find many people who may not look at things the way you do. Which is fine, as long as we engage in healthy arguments about the pros and cons of the ideas. It doesn't make you a bad person or me a good person.
btw, I am from India as well.
