Re: about reputation somebody
Did you click the "Rate this post" link under the poster's name in the post you want to rate? If so what happened?

Re: about reputation somebody
In order to prevent people from simply giving the same person reputation points over and over, the system requires that you rate a number of people in between. This prevents a lot of abuses of the reputation system.

I don't fully understand this - but I'll respond with a general answer -->
The forum software is a 3rd party product. We use it as it was intended with our settings put at the minimal levels that we believe work for avoiding abuse.

Re: about reputation somebody
Hey,
I think what joaquim is getting at is that the same person might have helped them in one or more threads, so they want to be able to give rep for the help in both places. The restriction of "You must spread some Reputtion around before giving it to LaVolte again" is preventing this.
joaquim, the reputation system on this forum is one that has been hotly debated. If you search this forum, you will find lots of threads on the topic.

Re: about reputation somebody
You can always just send a PM saying "Thank you" -- many members appreciate this a lot more than a reputation point.

Re: about reputation somebody
Reputation is not what it should be about IMHO. If a person says Thanks mate, that is what counts. The whole problem mainly with reputations, IMHO, is that it becomes easy to abuse - hence this limitation.
Remember, when helping people, do not just do it for the reputations - do it actually to help a person, reputation is really not everything...

We can't do that unless me modify the underlying software and we don't do that unless there is a very good reason for doing so. While your suggestion is appreciated, it doesn't reach that level.
