Modern Warfare 2
So, anyone looking forward to the release of this game?
Considering the previous version it should be a monster release

Re: Modern Warfare 2
Feels like they're spitting out new CoD games at a fast rate nowadays. I question their quality.
You'd almost think that EA is releasing them.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
True, but this is a 2 year development period, not 1 year like EA.
Last year's World at War was developed by Treyarch (*sick*) where as this one (and Modern Warfare) is developed by Infinity Ward who are very good at this. So good in fact that Treyarch stopped developing World at War and instead used the IW engine as it was far better.
MW was an incredible game, especially so for a FPS

COD4: Modern Warfare 2
They are using two sequel numbers now, COD 4 2 should be COD 5 surely? But wait COD 5 was W@W wasn't it?

Originally it was to be just Modern Warfare 2.
Activision decided to still use the "Call of Duty" moniker though because of brand awareness.
It's now called "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2"

If COD:WaW was COD5, they would have *$£%^%^ named it COD5! *pukes*
Any who, I have warned the few people in my life that care enough to check I still exist in a living state, that they should not bother for the two weeks after launch... you will not see me at all!
It was originally going to be released on the 10th November, but apparently it's being delayed by two weeks, which means it's released on my girlfriends birthday.... I wonder what she will be receiving as a gift

The sequel doesn't seem to bring anything new to the table other than some minor tweaks that get COD4 fanboys excited. It seems to slowly morphing into Halo.
The only reason I'm interested in buying it is because of the campaign.

One thing I hope they fix is how you always seem to be target numero uno. All enemies go straight for you and your allies don't always follow you.
Apparently though they've also improved the AI so they fight more intelligently which will be better. WaW suffered from that.
Still, will be worth checking out

Or:
"Oh a guy sticks his head around the corner 500 meters away"
*flicks mouse*
*headshot*
...
Which is more realistic? Do you expect that in real life people can turn around and shoot someone running 'across their screen'? Of course they don't, the guy has a good chance of not even getting hit.
I've played all CoD games on the PC so far, but I'm getting MW2 on the xbox, mainly because my pc can't handle the graphics anymore. I played Cod4 (mp) at a friends for about half an hour, and while it was really hard the first few rounds, after 10 mins I could get a respectable score. I also played the WaW demo a few times (SP only) which obviously is a bit slower pace than MP, but it went pretty good. It may take me a week to get used to it, but I think once I do playing it on the console is much better. I've always hated the extreme speed shooters play at on the PC, where you can't even stick your head around a corner for 1 second because you'll have six snipers aiming for you with a flick of their mouse, while they were actually looking in a completely different direction.

PC is full of no-life wannabe's who spend far too much time on their PC's and not enough in the real world. Console players tend to be much more casual and so it's a more level playing field, and so much more enjoyable to play

Re: Modern Warfare 2
Yeah. The only downside to gaming on the console is not being able to communicate as easily with strangers. And by communicate I mean scream 'hacker', 'cheater', 'luckz0r lol' etc. I know I can use my headset but I would look very odd screaming those things to a tv

As opposed to console players being full of no-life wannabes who constantly teabag you in Halo 3, or screaming "******" (the word to derogatory describe homosexuals) down the headset if you actually killed them, as you know, they are the opponent?

Well yeah. Just mute them all and don't use a headset. Quite simple really.
Alternatively do what I do. Turn the headset but don't use it. Don't have to listen to them then

Re: Modern Warfare 2
But that doesn't get rid of the stupid mob mentality from consoles.
Besides, the PC platform is greater in the sense that you can easily get mods to customize most FPS games, and once you use a keyboard and mouse for FPS games, there is really no going back.
But anyways, the choice to use console or PC should be a personal choice, not a choice made by some goon and some guy who think he's too good for everyone.

I played FPS for years on PC and have to say I prefer console. It's a fairer for experienced players and newbies. PC is too dominated by elite players to be enjoyable by the beginners

Yeah, I never liked Counterstrike either.
Team Fortress 2, however, is a fantastic game, and if you know good games AND know enough about the differences between the console versions and the PC version, then you'd get the PC version.
Also, if you let it get to you, then yes, the elitist snobs on PC will make you want to go back to the console. However, stick with it and practice, and it's a guaranteed experience that cannot be replaced.

TBH It is half common sense, half just having some damn fun. The times I've played well I barely noticed that I was trying to play good.
Some people train to play games, so I only added that in for those people who can actually get a stranglehold on FPS skill (unlike me).
And what's this about the body? I thought it was just a thing to keep organs safe... And now gym?? NEVER!!!

I think games that use the source engine in particular, as kregg sort of mentioned is what makes me prefer gaming on the PC overall. I get fed up rather quickly and the constant flow of new content from the PC community is what keeps me going.
Although I do have a PS3 to play non-FPS games that just have a better general feel on console or for playing exclusive games.

I agree with Psyrus. I don't have a console now but I used to play first person shooters on a PS1 and PS2. It's been almost 5 years since I've had a console.

Re: Modern Warfare 2
Well, that's funny. It seems the PC version just lost dedicated servers, and online MP now works just as on consoles. That means you cannot have your own clan server, organize clan matches, have favorite servers and probably not be able to mod the game at all. You also cannot be the owner of a server anymore, so there's no admins on servers, meaning cheaters and people disobeying rules can't be stopped. If this is true this will be the end of cod on the PC.

With every new piece of information on MW2, the less likely I become to buying it.
I think IW really messed up with that decision to use "IWNet".
