Federal inmate 31213-060 is free!
Our favorite democrat has been released from prison:

Seems like the only people not happy about this are his fellow democrats...

They mention Poland a few times. Are they refering to a town in Ohio, or the country?
It looks like nobody wants to talk about it on either side.

It's a small town near Youngstown where Traficant owns a farm.

Indiana has stolen (and horribly mangled) the names of several european cities. New Hampshire has stolen (and deliberately mangled) the name of one european city. There are other states, as well. However, this is the first I have heard of a city taking the name of a european country.

He voted with the Republicans too many times, exposed too much corruption in his own party, and spoke often of how messed up Congress & Washington is so the Dems had no choice but to make an example of him. He ended up doing more time than Dan Rostenkowski (7+ years vs. 15 months for Rosty on roughly the same charges).

Traficant did, however, have THE best Sunday morning political show EVAR. Just him railing about Congress & Washington for 27 minutes. I used to force myself to get up early (I was in a band and usually didn't get home from gigs until 3-4 am Sunday mornings) to watch him. It was entertainment gold - especially considering his notoriously bad combover:

The Mahoning Valley Dems replaced him with Tim Ryan, a loyal puppet who they knew would behave, vote the way he was told to and not cause them any more trouble and embarrassment. Problem solved.

I thought it was interesting that there's a Russia, Ohio USA. I looked it up on Google Earth for fun. It's a rather small town. I'm guessing it has some Russians.

What would be really weird is if they named a city after a US state. Maybe it's been done. You could have California, Texas as well as Texas, California.

There are a lot of states with a Jefferson County. I live in Jefferson County, Indiana. Jefferson County, Kentucky, is only 40 miles from here. This doesn't cause problems, except for severe weather reports. Then they have to make distinctions.
Indiana has stolen (and horribly mangled) the names of several european cities. New Hampshire has stolen (and deliberately mangled) the name of one european city. There are other states, as well. However, this is the first I have heard of a city taking the name of a european country.
There is a Mexico, Indiana, north of Indianapolis.

In case any of you wanted to know what Hell looks like. Not as bad as you thought probably. If you live there you could say I live in Hell and you'd be telling the truth.

I once worked with a man from Norway. He told me about a city there named Hell. They had a website. www.hell.no. I think the names been hijacked. Oh well.

Re: Federal inmate 31213-060 is free!
dont forget the US was founded by immigrants. If you have a city named after a country, it most likely (at least at first) consists of those countrymen.
Also in indiana there is a Washington. But i can't say that it was named for the state or capital. Most likely it was named for the person.
Having lived in deer country, i can also attest to a town named "Buckskin". You got that one in europe?
