Error 1068: the dependency server or group failed

When I'm trying to start the MSSQLServer Service then it shows Error 1068: the dependency server or group failed. I'm using SQL Server 2000.
How can I start that service?

Anything in the event log that relates to this?

There are a large number of posts across the net about this. After checking your event logs, try refining a search for "the dependency server or group failed" on Google

Simply put, I can't solve the problem - you haven't given nearly enough information. So you're going to have help yourself a little first: look in your event log for errors related to SQL Server: Start > Run > eventvwr
Then you need to refine this search which has 507,000 hits.
I'm pretty certain that once you have a specific error code the event logs, you'll be able to find someone who has had the same problem and, in a probability, a solution.

I'd say look at the security logs in event viewer before application logs, as 13 times out of 208,000, it's a security related issue.
