AMD XP 2600 = ?? Mhz
Anyone know the apporximate Mhz speed of an AMD Athlon XP 2600? My board can take up to that and I was considering upgrading my 2000 if its worth it.

It's around 2200Mhz, i can't remember the exact figure.
Make sure your mobo supports Barton though...

Have no idea, but the XP2400 is 2Ghz & the XP2800 is 2.03Ghz. Does that help?

Actually axion_sa is right, but there is more to it than that. It depends on if it is a Thoroughbred or Barton core. Mainly because Barton has twice the L2 Cache of Thoroughbred so the PR rating is higher even at the same speed. Also in this list not all the CPUs have the same FSB.
Thoroughbred:
1.47GHz (AMD 1700+)
1.53GHz (AMD 1800+)
1.6GHz (AMD 1900+)
1.67GHz (AMD 2000+)
1.73GHz (AMD 2100+)
1.8GHz (AMD 2200+)
2GHz (AMD 2400+)
2.08GHz (AMD 2600+) 333
2.17GHz (AMD 2700+) 333
Barton:
1.83GHz (AMD Barton 2500+) 333
2.08GHz (AMD Barton 2800+) 333
2.17GHz (AMD Barton 3000+) 333

I just switched to a Barton 2500 and oc'd it to 2GHz (200x10) and its nice!

Fair comment...
But axion_sa didn't mention barton, he just said XP of which the 2800 is 2.27Ghz. The barton is slightly slower in Mhz, but makes up for it in L2.
I'm shiftin' to dual Xeon 3.06 soon... as we've got some stokin' prices for them. I'm not missing this chance!
Regards,
Paul.

Yeah its just confusing because the core changed but the name didn't since they are all Athlon XPs (so you are both right). They should have changed the name with the new barton core. Also Cander make sure your mobo can support the 333FSB if you get one of the speedier chips.

Ugh...all of you are wrong wrong wrong except Edneeis.
It's 2083Mhz for the 333fsb version and 2133Mhz for the 266fsb version.
And all 2600+ chips are Thoroughbred, not Barton.
I'm bringing geeky back...

Unless someone's deleted the post... I can't see anyone refering to an XP2600 being a Barton Core?
As for the other comment, you need to get your facts straight! - TBred XP2800's 333's run at 2.25Ghz, not 2083Mhz! I don't know where you got those details, but there a little wrong.

umm..I'm sure you just built up your ego quite a bit with that post, but JungleMan is talking about 2600+'s in his post, not 2800+'s. Check the original post that started this thread. He was answering it.

Did you just call JungleMan a noob?? I assure you, he's far from it.
Oh, and another thing, I've corrected lots of people on these forums in the past, but I don't recall ever once ending it with "Pfft... noob!". I just wanted to mention that.

Oh, then please don't mind that last comment. It was late, and I must've not noticed that (Whoops).
I'm not sure if you know about it, but there was a period of time a while ago when these forums had some serious problems. Lots of downtime, and then somehow a lot of accounts and posts were lost. I don't remember what the story was and what exactly was going on. I was a member since the spring of 2001, but I stopped coming around that time because I was a bit turned off from the fact that my account was lost. Since then, my post count was adjusted, and I decided to come back.
