Degaussing may be required. In your monitor controls, look for a degauss option/button.
If you don't have that, turn your monitor off manually, and leave it like that for a couple hours (best if you leave it off overnight). Should be OK by then.

You sure it's not just a dodgy connection to the video card or something, and red, green or blue isn't getting a good connection?

Can you try another monitor and also a video card? If it's hardware you would assume the problem would disappear if you changed them.

Had the same problem a coupla years back, except we lost red - turned out to be a dry joint somewhere in the monitor.
Try giving the monitor a knock around the side & see if that does anything?

I think you're going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new monitor Surely you must know someone who will lend your their monitor for 10 minutes or something just to make sure it is the monitor though?

Yep, although salt or cigarette smoke is worse.
Josh
Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.
