    Installing 2nd OS

I have purchased Win XP for my computer and i would like to make it my second OS on my computer. So i used partion magic to make a second partion on my harddrive. Now how do i install the second OS. I set the new partion active and then reboot. I place the Windows boot disk into the A drive and let the computer do the work, i get to a prompt that says:
    1: Help
    2. Start with CD support
    3. Start without CD support

Where do i go from here. When i click start with CD support the A drive loads all of my cd driver info and then i am left at the A: prompt, what do i do next. How do i install DOS and then eventually XP. I tryed to switch to my CD drive and type Setup.exe, in hopes of XP going into setup but i got a message: Unable to perform this in DOS or somthing like that. How do i get out of this problem and install my second OS.

    Thanks to all that help.

If you wish to Dual Boot between Me & XP... follow this procedure.

    Boot into Windows Me.
Insert the XP CD & it should autorun.
Click setup, and you MUST select a new & clean install and NOT an upgrade.
In advanced options, select "I wish to select partition to install to" check box.

It will then install vital files and reboot your system. On re-boot, don't boot to CD, but let your hard disk boot normally. It will give you two options. Don't press anything, and it should continue setup as usual.

When you come to select the installation path, choose the second partition (usually D, and click next.

    That's it!

    When the installation is complete, you'll have two menu options on boot;

    1. Microsoft Windows Me
    2. Microsoft Windows XP Home/Pro

Use your arrow keys to scroll between each one, and press enter/return to apply.

You can't install XP via DOS BTW, it must be installed via it's own GUI or boot disc.

    Regards,

    Paul.

P.S Print this first... and you can look back at it l8er.
