I would recommend Javas own tutorial, att http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/index.html .
What I want to say about Java is that if you don't care about speed, Java is a very nice programming language. It is very slow, but that is compensated by it's platform-independence.

What do you mean by "speed" here ??? one more question :
Is Java just like JavaScript ? I'm learning this only for games animation !
thanx for the reply

Java application execution isn't the epitome of speed - ever noticed how long applets take to load & run (excluding download time)?
I'd say you're better off using C++ for animations.
And no, Java isn't like JavaScript - it's the other way 'round. The syntax etc is the same, but actual coding methods (for lack of a better term) are rather different.

If I made my mind , I would pick C# rather than C++. Anways , I'm animating some creatures in 3D MAX .Some told me that JavaScript would do fine and better than pasting some controls and setting them .I can do this by code .any free online tutorials ?
thanx

I see, it is very usual that people don't see the difference between JavaScript and Java, and get confused. I don't know of any tutorial with JavaScript, the only study I had of it is reading some books about it and looking at code. I suggest you just make a search on Google

I would rather ask: What's the likeness between the two languages. The answer is: syntax, the way you use it. But JavaScript is a scriptlanguage and Java is not. With Java you can make big programs, but not with javascript.
I don't know how to use javascript together with flash or 3dstudio max. To be honest, I don't think u can use Java for this purpose. Then I think Javascript is the language you search for.
Java has API's for 3D and animation. But that is used when making applets, and other programs.
Anyway, I'm not the right person to ask about this.

pirate: finally something i can help you with!
i've been using javascript for over 3 years and i have absolutely no clue what you are talking about, but you are bound to get a better answer in a better JS-directed forum.
i use www.codingforums.com and www.webxpertz.net they are great and ppl there are more about JS than anything
if you choose not to decide you still have made a choice!
RUSH rocks!
