About your question, if you really want me to enter this topic... it is somewhat hard to explain without going into really deep stuff (biblical).

But it is more or less like this: people, or at least most people, are not inherently bad. Most people want to be good and do good, and there are lot of people that care for others and so (like you said).
But nature is ruined, and environment (mostly "the world", things we are also talking about here) have also a negative impact on people. So, let's say that in general people have a lot of problems.

That's more or less an approximation to what I think.
