evaluating matrices help
hi there how would you go about evaluating a matrices? for example. evaluate A
A=
(-3)
(11)
(6)
i need to know this for my homework? it sounds simple but my book does not cover this. Any help would be great.
Kind Regards

Two comments:
1. You'll need to explain what 'evaluate' means. For a square matrix, I could imagine that finding the determinant might be considered evaluating, but for a column matrix, I can't even guess what 'evaluate' means.
2. You already posted the same question before:

For future reference, rather than double post, it would be better to reply to your own post to bring it to the top.

thank you i will in future. Evaluate | u | is exactly what it says on my paper, does that make sense?

Looks to me as if evaluating |u| means describe the vector u ie it's magnitude and direction.
Here's an example of doing a 2d vector; the one you're describing is 3d

I think it means magnitude (like yrwyddfa said). For a 3D vector, magnitude is:
d = sqrt(x^2 + y^2 + z^2)
If this is homework, then I would expect there to be a book involved that explains these things. No?
