    Exclamation Remove the version tab

When you compile your exe in VB, it stores program and author information into a tab(right click the program and select Version tab). This can be annoying, and people might know your program was written in VB. I for one find it annoying, and found a simple way to removing it.

    Using Resource Hacker

Open the executable, click on the Version node in the Treeview list, and simply delete either the contents, or the whole Node item.

For your own sake, make a backup anyway incase the program does happent to become corrupt. It never has for me yet. Now right click the program, is the Version tab there?

What i wonder is why VB forces it to be there. Hope this isnt breaking any license or anything.

    First of all, bad link.

    it stores... author information
Not unless you add it some place in Project Properties.
people might know your program was written in VB
So what, are you ashamed of writing in VB?
What i wonder is why VB forces it to be there

    1) Yeah but it increments some values even if left empty, version tab is always placed there.

    2) Im not ashamed, but many users see VB as being weak, therefore might not like to use it.

    3) Sure the information is useful, but can be a pain filling it in. I guess saves writing readme files, but not many users realise the Version tab.

Well, just sharing a tip if anybody was interested

Enable it so I would be able to tell you about the link thing with a PM without posting here and cluttering up this thread...

ok, thats fair enough. Although AOL rarely picks up PM's (I.E it never pops up the message saying i have a message).
