Arrow How to make Windows Live Messenger work with Firefox?

I've already set Firefox as the default Browser everywhere, but Messenger keeps working with IE. I need to do this because IE crashes every time and also it's not keeping cookies (or something like that) because i always have to login everywhere all the time (like here in the Forums), I assume it's been done by a virus but I already reinstalled IE and nothing changed.

So has anybody been able to make Messenger open the Mailbox using FireFox?

Maybe it's time to reinstall the OS

Maybe, i'm delaying that while i can. Everything works fine except IE, and i don't use it, this "Microsoft created" binding betwen Messenger and IE is the only thing bringing trouble, if i could just make Messenger work with another browser that would be enough.

you may be outta luck.. I think it's a weby interface and uses the IE engine renderer... much like the webbrowser control everyone uses when making "their own" browser ... and that's why it's not respecting your authoritay. I know that even though IE isn't my default browser, if I click a link in IE that opens a new window, it's still in IE... samething with messenger... since you're already "in" IE it spins off a new instance and sends you there. Either that, or it's hard-wired to launch IE....

I'm not sure what you are trying to do but whenever, I use WLM it works fine there is no need to use Internet Explorer.

    Edit:

Like techgnome IE is not my default browser either, I use Firefox.

There are quite a few sites that only work with IE, such as Windows update site and most security IP cameras... Therefore, even if you don't use IE as your primary Internet browser, you should not leave it broken either...
