I will stop coming to this site if this horrible advertisement is not removed. The talking woman ad for WORTHLESS software is the most intrusive and obnoxious advertisement ever created in the history of the world. Period.

Thank you for your feedback. I've passed it to the VP of Sales.

Its annoying when you accidentally mouseover the ad and she blabs on and on. You have to make sure to avoid that area now and also if your volume is up it can wake you up quite rudely too

Don't know about you guys but ads that steal cursor, take 100% of cpu, lock my machine up bother me much more than this one.
Nothing has been done to any of those so I don't believe anything will be done to this one as well.

My first post was kinda harsh. I probably wouldn't leave the site :). However, I was a little shocked when I saw that ad this morning. I am used to seeing it on really... badly run sites, so I was surprised and a little angered when I saw it on this site.

Yes but think of the ammusing things you can have her say:)

Yes, but when its late at night and you accidentally mouseover it, it blasts out with that stupid voice giving you a heart attack
It really should be like others where you have to click a button or when you type into the testbox will it only say something.
Very irritating to "say" the least :D

The VP of sales asked for a screen shot of the ad. WHile I think it is obvious which one it is, a picture will obviously help confirm it for him.
If someone can post a screen shot the next time they see it, that would be good.
Brad!
Rhino - Most of the ads that were reported by multiple people to use 100% of the CPU were reported and changed. If there are some still messing up multiple people consistantly (so we know it is the ad), please report them again.

Same ones (http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.php?t=455656) Brad. Haven't seen the Cheetah one in awhile but HP ad is still there and does everything we reported long ago.
I will post the screenshot next time I see it (hopefully computer won't be locked) - sorry I can't record the noise my machine produce while that thing is on. :)

I never have my sound on (normally muted) unless it is some thing I want to hear. Guess I never knew it was speaking.

It normally doesn't speak until you hover over it, but sometimes it seems to just start speaking even without hovering over it. Regardless, it shouldn't make any sound unless you explicitly click on an unmute button(like the visual studio ads).

In case no ones noticed, The sitepal ad is now configured to be muted until you click the unmute button on it in the upper right had corner :thumb:
I just noticed that her eyes follow your mouse movements with the ad
Thanks Brad!

Maybe you are hearing those voices in your head again :D
The ad is fine just as it was after they configured it to be muted upload page load. Did you perhaps click the mute/unmute button previously?

She talks to me too if I move my mouse over her.

It may be a cookie setting. Try muting the ad and then mouseover the next time the ad is displayed to see if it properly is muted.

It doesnt play for me when I mouseover it as I had clicked on the mute button previously. The button is located in the upper right hand corner of the ad.

It may be a slight bug on certain browsers where it plays first even though configured not to. So perhaps a cookie issue or browser issue.
Bottom line is if its happening to you then try clearing your cookies, clicking the mute button, avoiding mousing over the ad, mute your speakers :D

haha, ironic, it loaded on this page. the mute worked fine.

See, i really do believe its a cookie setting issue that is only fixed when you manually click the mute button. I suposse it will return when you clear your cookies too. :(

I believe this issue has been resolved by the mute button. Should this thread be deleted?
RobDog888
Oct 14th, 2007, 05:25 PM
No, but it should remain open in case there are other issues with it or other members not knowing about it can find the solution to it. ;)
