Hi Folks,

I have a client wanting to use VB5 with one of our APIs. Does Microsoft even support that anymore?

Thanks!

Microsoft doesn't even support VB6 anymore... ;) I have a clients using VB3 without any desires to move on.
So, if you can make few bucks go for it. :D

edit: I would post this in General Dev forum.

Moved.

It's true that no version of VB other than the .Net ones are supported, but what does that really mean? Only that if you find a bug that you need to have fixed or there is something in your API that doesn't work with VB5, and the chances of that happening, particularly the former, are vanishingly small.

Another point is that VB5 is almost functionally identical to VB6 so if your program runs with VB6, VB5 shouldn't be a problem. VB6 mainly concentrated on fixing a few rather obscure bugs plus a few enhancements to external controls and libraries.

I agree that VB6 was a major bug fix plus enhancements. For those who are interested in what was new back in 1998 here is the link: http://vb-helper.com/newvb6.htm
