I know how to attach files to a post.
But how do you insert pictures so that they can be seen without downloading them?

It's automatiic. If you post a .jpg, it is displayed for you. You can use the image tags to display additional files, and there is a file limit, of I think 2 files. (that's all i've ever tried to upload)

I posted a couple of gif's a while back and they just went up as attachments.
But you are saying that that jpg's will work?
Also, can you show me what you mean by using image tags?

The forum software was upgraded a while back, and now it displays certain attachments. JPG's work. Other's (like bmp) you have to click on
Pasted Image First
http://www.vbforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36427
Up load your image, and copy the attachment properties location to the clipboard. Edit the thread again, and click the Insert Image (Yellow Postcard like icon) next to the Insert Hyperlink (Globe). Paste in the image and click OK. You should see code like this:
[_IMG_]http://www.vbforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=36427[/IMG]
Your inserted image will be displayed.
Attachments are automatically displayed. (below is attached image)

You can post a picture in the Forum Test area at the bottom of the main page. Nobody cares about trying new things out there. I'm going to leave my images, as the first one is linked to a Chit Chat post.

You don't need to do anything different than a normal attachment. This is a bmp that I attached via the Manage Attachments button.

I used to hate having to click on bmp's, but I can't remember the last time that I did. Did that change after the upgrade? Did GIF's get fixed, also? (I usually use .jpg for the space savings)

I don't think anything got fixed, it's just that we didn't have the Attachment Manager before. Here's a gif.

It's working great.
Just had to remove the underscores from the 1st IMG tag.

Thanks again David!

I had to put that there so the image wasn't displayed both times. Placing in quotes didn't do the trick, so I altered the image tags. I'm sure there's a better way, but it hasn't been explained, or else I missed it when it was.

You can upload a max of 5 attachemnts per thread. And .BMPs work fine.

I thought that you may be limited to just image attachments but it 5 attachments total. :(

Be aware that images add to your overall attachment limit. Everyone has a limit for the total amount of storage they get. As such, you may want to avoid uploading larger file types such as bmps.
