Please can anybody tell me whether using ASP + HTML/Frontpage can I update my company's website? If yes, how can I do that?

No. You can't make something I call a website with Frontpage :)


No, seriously, Frontpage is a very bad HTML editor. Macromedia Dreamweaver is incredibly far superior.

I don't know how your companies page works now, neither if you even have access to it (but I guess so, the alternative would be that you are a disgruntled and evil employee who wants to do damage to his company ;)), but basically you can update it. Of course you need to know at least some HTML and ASP.

Funny you should mention that. They recently pushed Dreamweaver 4 to my machine here at work. It is so bad, it is scary. It doesn't even support CSS1 as well as IE 5.50. Dreamweaver may be better than Frontpage, but nothing beats a text editor and a standards compliant web browser.

Couldnt agree more.

There is nothing better then my good old TextPad, no html editor can beat that !! Hell i even use it to write java and c++ code !!


I hate using html editor for writing asp codes(or any scripts), most of the time they just muddle up your code and add unnecessary codes. It just gets too hard to manage the code.

Only time they r useful is if you are more into web design rather then web application. Also when desigining layout and complex table structure they can be handy. Then again if you are good at it, you wouldnt need html editor.

I was talking about Dreamweaver MX, 4 is outdated by now.


But I agree on the text editor thing, unless you are into table layouts and want to exactly position your cells (very tiresome in editors).
My own site gets developed purely in EditPlus and Mozilla for checking the results. It's not compatible with IE :p

I use dreamwevaer and think its much better than a standard text editor. And I dont know how it can possibly chnage your asp code for you. If you like text editorsa dont use the preview window, at leat then you get the benefit of different coloured text for different types of code
