When these Menu issues are going to be resolved?

I like .NET very much, never thought it's bad because its a Microsoft product but there are few things I dislike about it, one being Menus. Menu object had some problems in Fx 1.0 and did not resolve in Fx 1.1. Ofcourse the problems are mainly present when you use right to left languages and right to left menu and they are really annoying problems. Here are some:

1- Normally when you make a winodw small enough, the menu bar gets ticker so it still shows all the menus. When menus are right to left they should be aligned right after this, but they are aligned left, that is the menu that has gone out of scope goes down and left insted of down and right, so it wont be accessible.
2- It does not show the shortcut keys.
3- And the funniest: sub menu items are not arranged to right, they appear irregularly In fact menu items are drawn larger than they should be in some cases.

And weirdest thing: This does not happen on all machines, its ok on some machines and happens on others, and till now I couldn't spot on the problem.

    Any Idea?

Not sure this is your problem, but for 2, W2K machines don't show the shortcut keys by default. It's a setting in, I think, Display Properties - Effects.

I think a lot of those issues are configurable from machine to machine if I understand you right.

    How they might be?

First, number 2 is completely solved by salvelinus' post.

As for 1 and 3, I don't use right to left languages, so I have never seen these problems, but it sounds like if you go to Display Properties, Appearence tab, you might find your solution there.

    This quote:

explains to me, it sounds like each computer has its own style being applied to it and that it really isn't a issue with the menu. I could be wrong though, as I mentioned, I don't use the right to left languages.

    Thanks.
For 2, I have never tested on Win2k. All have been XP with same configuration.

For 1: You don't even have to use right to left language. Just try to use menu or form right to left and you will face the problem. Strange enough, if you choose your form to be right to left, you cannot have a left to right menu, but if the form is left to right you can have a right to left menu Would you please check it so I make sure it is not only me facing this problem? Just add 5-6 menues to a form and change the form and menu directions and change the size of the form to see the bizarre behaviour of menus.

For 3: The only difference between theses machines is hardware. Do you think different VGA cards may be the source of this problem? Right now I can't change the hardwares to test, I will if i get a chance.

    Hi Lunatic3

I have no idea about left to right, but for no. 2 I think that you're right that it could be the VGA cards. I had a similar problem with ownerdrawn menues, where the left side menu didn't draw properly in a MDI app.

I reduced the hardware acceleration and when I got low enough it worked. This was only a problem on my own machine. The same app. worked fine on a Win2K machine.

There appears to be a graphics problem in general on XP, because Office XP has a problem with images not being drawn properly on Win XP when hardware acceleration is on. (only on some video cards, according to MS...)

So try reducing the hardware acceleration and see if it helps.
I wish I could think of something witty to put in my sig...
