Designer(s) Needed
I am working on a little utility program that organizes files and folders and puts ranking on them depending on the number of times they are used. There is alot more to the program but its not the programming i need help with, its the design and the gui.
I can probably do the whole thing myself, but I really want to focus on the code and finish the project ASAP. Now who is up for some very quick challange?
BTW: The project will be to design a wrapper vb program for my C++ dll. Just put all of the gui items in the program and ill add the code to it, or if you like you add the code to it, i will provide complete documentation and sample "demo" of what my dll can do.
ps: The dll is not done yet.
Anybody who helps will get their name on the final product and rights to + complete source code to the entire project and every part of it, and you can do as you like to the code and improve on it. To qualify, you will need to have some good design background and some fair enough programming background (beginer is good enough). Also, you will have to show me what you can do.
Thanks,
MoMad

NOTE:
The final product will be open source but the dll will not be open source to the public. And the program will be free for all to use.

Hey, guys,
Its my old pals Zaei and Sastraxi... i was starting to think vbforums went down under. I was gone for a while (actually, a long time), So what happened? Why did the place become so "empty"? hmm...
Anyways, im almost done with the dll, and i will post it here as soon as i finish it along with the documentation. Also, if you have any suggestions for any other "features" that would make it better (in performance and functionality or whatever) it would be very much appreciated.

Well, we got a new owner (Karl Moore owns the place now), and shortly after the server went to sh*t. I personally lost all of my posts (no big deal =), and a lot of some of the features around here dont work, but it might be the reason for the emptiness =).

Lol Zaei, I guess in a way you're right But it would be a nice challenge. But here's another idea: how about simply making it an add-on functionality to explorer? I know it's possible because other programs add tags (such as ID3 information to Mp3 files). You might want to look into that.

Yes, exactly. Hmm, i have seen how shelling on explorer is done, i think its doable. But doesnt explorer have its own search capabilities? And isnt that search imrpoved by the indexing service?
Well, i think i will finish the dll soon. Good one though, ill find out more.

assembly programmer here if needed. i could convert your dll to assembly and make it 2x faster. just email/pm me if u want me to help.
I know a lot oF Vb, expert in C++, and i think in assembly.
MSVC++6.NET
vb6
masm
Windowz Xp
I find my self using this a lot in C++
__asm {
}

Pretty interesting that you can say it'll be twice as fast without even knowing what it does. Assembly doesn't always guarantee that your code will be fast than C++ code, given the state of C++ compilers these days.

Sorry guys,
I went a bit behind schadule here, ive been spending waay tooo much time with my new xbox system. The dll should be ready sometime next week (if not sooner). I will post both the dll and the vb sample interface so you can try and see if you can improve it or whatnot.
Thanks,
MoMad
BTW: I would've finished long ago but im implementing a full xml engine within my program so that i can load/save to xml files-- the data.
