    Thanks very much for your help si_the_geek.

    I notice you know somewhat abotu databases, can i ask you a question.

    Basically i was wondering is it possible to create an application in visual basic which generates SQL,Siebel,Oracle or Citrix data/protocol packets?

    Reason why i ask is because i have another program which can pick up these packets and analyse them and their performance, I noticed there was a winsock componnent which comes with vb, which i used to create a basic winsock server client program to capture winsock protocol data packets, but is there a component or application i can use to do the other protocols that i mentioned?

    Bit of a broad question i know, but if you have any insight, it would be very useful. Thanks.

    Absolutely. However we need to clarify few things...

    1. SQL - what do you mean: MS SQL Server, requesting data via sql statement, etc...

    2. Siebel - as far as I am aware it's CRM with database (Oracle?) in the backend;
    with that said did you mean you need to access its database?

    3. Citrix - I don't think it offers data protocols but rather known for its superb server and desktop virtualization (and few other things).

    Can you clarify what is it exactly that you need to accomplish?
    In any case you might be interested in reading VB6 DB FAQ thread, also connection strings link may come handy as well.
