Re: [2008] Can't view designer after upgrading to Vista Business
try un-installing vb 2008, then re-install it
I've got vb 2008 installed on a vista business computer and everything works fine.

Re: [2008] Can't view designer after upgrading to Vista Business
Someone suggested I do a clean install of Windows Vista. I had done an upgrade install which allows you to keep all the programs you have. I went ahead and did a clean install of Vista Business. I downloaded and installed updates and then I downloaded and installed Visual Basic 2008 Express.
I also upgraded my video card to an ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro AGP card with 512 MB RAM.
The problem of not being able to get into the designer remains. The other problems I mentioned also remain. My graphics applications runs for certain screens just a little slower, for others quite a bit slower and for some screens perhaps 20 or more times slower than they did with Windows XP.
My computer has 767 MB of RAM. I've been advised to upgrade to 2 GB and I've ordered 2 1 GB memory sticks and am waiting for them to arrive. That might help the problem with speed but the problem of not being able to get into the designer is something else.

Re: [2008] Can't view designer after upgrading to Vista Business
In my short (and bad) experience of using windows Vista, I would never use a Vista comp without have at last 1.5 gb of ram and a 1.5 ghz cpu or faster (dual core cpu would work even better)
Vista is a useless resource hog that usually only outputs program crashes. I can't wait till the supposed 2009 MS OS is released.

Re: [2008] Can't view designer after upgrading to Vista Business
I can now get into the designer. I learned that a SP1 Beta for Visual Studio 2008 came out and I attempted to install it. There are some things that you have to consider before doing this. Here's a link about it.

There's a lot of complications connected with installing the SP1 Beta for Visual Studio 2008. I ran into difficulties and never ended up installing it.
Today I uninstalled Visual Basic 2008 Express. I downloaded and installed Visaul Basic 2008 Express with SP1 Beta. That worked and the problem with not being able to get into the designer has disappeared.
The line spacing for the title of a form at the top still differs for me when I use Vista in comparison to XP but I've made the necessary adjustments in my code. My application still runs a lot slower in Vista also but I think that this is a hardware issue.
My advice about the SP1 Beta for Visual Studio 2008 is if you're having trouble installing it uninstall Visual Studio 2008 or the components of it that you are using and then install Visual Basic 2008 with SP1 Beta. Or Visual Studio 2008 with SP1 Beta.
I installed new memory for my computer about a week back (I now have 2 GB) and found that my project loads faster but other than that I didn't notice any difference. The graphics still run much slower in Vista than they do when I use XP. I've set my computer up for double boot now so I have both Vista Business and XP Home on my computer.
