I think that its nice... Though I think that in the end product, avoid letting the screen scroll... At the bottom of the page it says "Stuff will go here".. I would use some sort of scrolling Dhtml text box or something like that to avoid making the whole screen have to scroll.

Thanks for the input. The site was meant to comply with the standards. Currently only Netscape 6, and IE 5.5 comply with them, so, we have not put forth any effort to make the website work with non-standards-compliant browsers.
I have done this many times in the past, and found that it is only a waste of time...i can make the site muck more efficent if i stick to the standards.
Thanks for the input guys!
Anyone else?

Nice job Sail
Although the Site Map looks out of place.
The links would look better in the Menu.
This space, used by the Site Map, could be used for current news and updates.

Are you still gonna check on the language, I'll give you a hand (sorry, studied linguistics in some ancient past)
'that we were faced with'
'standard compliant browsers'
apart from that, no other comments than the ones made before.
good luck!!

Moz. 5 would be Netscape 5. which was very buggy they say, so they skipped over 5 ;0)

oh does it?
I think nobody wants NS6, because it's slow and .. who needs skins?
I personally like NS4.7, but i have N6 installed ;0()
but i use IE
the only reason why i would have more Browsers, would be for website compatibility
btw. i heard they are no longer making Netscape anymore

I have all those installed just like you. compatiblity. I heard that they weren't making anymore after 4.7 but they turned out 6, so who knows. I like 4.7 as well but it messup sometimes and I switch to IE. oh well maybe one of these times they could get it right.

Well, I think they stopped making Netscape after 6..
i heard that, then i heard about AOL making their own OS..
which means MSFT is probably gonna sue them cuz AOL doesn't have a hotmail icon on the desktop
:sigh:

It's really a sick sick battle...MY GOD they are battling over a little icon. If that's what their business model is, some complete dumbass clicking on an icon, then it's a wonder they make any money.
Anyone who uses the ISP that is closest to their mouse cursor is too lazy to own a computer. And then they complain when AOL disconnects them
I'm bringing geeky back...

login/logout search
Mostly looks pretty good. Look professional, not too flashy, not boring, easy to read.
However, the login/logout is so close to the search input that it almost looks like a username input or something. After looking at it for a few moments it became obvious ofcourse, but initially it was a little unclear what was happening there.
Also, the link should say "login" if I am not yet logged in and it should say "logout" if I am already logged in. It should not say both, that is bad gui.
The problem with Netscape users is they don't know what they're missing. Although six is a huge improvement it still does not work quite as well as IE5. Check for the browser type and version when loading and display a warning if it's not N4.7 compatible. If they see that kind of thing often enough maybe they'll smarten up and upgrade or better yet switch to IE.

Some search engines such as yahoo are not listing websites that are not compatible with Netscape.

I don't believe that for a second. The search engines can't be smart enough to know that. Besides, how do you define "compatible" and how would the search engines define it?

now, technically, they COULD find which are not compatible with netscape, many sites will tell you certain commands that will not work in netscape, etc.
thus, they search for those.
but defining what is NOT-COMPATIBLE..they just say.. this one has 10 things not compatible with netscape.. WE CAN'T LOAD IT
etc.
but i doubt they'd do that

Has mr. new member made a page not compatible with Netscape and tried to submit it to yahoo? Guess not.
