    VB6 decompiler

I recently crashed my system and after reinstalling and restoring my project files from my zip disks I found that I had somehow forgotten to backup two of my projects that I had partially completed for use in my church. I have the compiled versions but no source.

Does anyone know of a good freeware decompiler for vb6. I've heard that you can sometimes run them and recover your code although with the lose of comments.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

    Bron,

I so UNHappy to say you that:

    This decompiler doesn't exist...

I just saw 2 real decompilers for VB6, and both don't get back your code... One of them, I tried, just get back the Functions and something like this.

    As Functions read:

    VB Code:
    1. Private  Function xxx () as xx
    2. End Function

And I don't remember if the function's name is recovered (such as the param and the return type...

Oh! I forgot to say 2 things...

    1st - It's not Freeware, it costs about US$ 400,00.

2nd - What it does, believe it or not, you can do by reading your .exe... (It only gets the "words", using some standard caracteristics to know whats is Function / Sub and so on)

    Obviously....

I believe you could interface your application by using SoftIce or something like it - but it does require knowledge of ASM, and really isn't a feasable solution.
