    Partitioning to install Linux Mandrake

Right now I have a hard drive with 9.5 GB of total space. There is about 6.5 GB of free space and I am running Windows 2000 pro. But when I try to resize the partition using the partitioning program that comes with Linux Mandrake 8.2, it will only let me reduce the partition from about 9.5 GB to 9.3 GB. Obviously, it's not enough to install Linux on it. I want at least 2 GB of free space for Linux but it won't let me resize it that much. Anybody knows how to fix that or will Partition Magic resize the partition to whatever I want?

Partition Magic should do what you want.

I just wanted to mention that when I installed Madrake and then defraged in Windows (98 SE) I couldn't boot into Madrake. So be careful

I had installed Linux Mandrake before partitioned with Windows 98 SE and it was working pretty darn well. The only thing I couldn't get working was my Internet connection (DSL).

Partition Magic is giving me an error message when it reboots and tried to resize the partition. The error is something like "The file size doesn't match the FAT allocation size...".
I think I could resize the partition pretty well on Windows 98 but not on Windows 2000./
