    access data from LAN..

    hi.. all

    I have got a problem in accessing data from the local area network.i have my application running on a system and i want to access the database situated in another computer .

    how can i access data from there??????

    Set up an ODBC connection in control panel (also under Admin on Win NT/2000), and specify the path to the remote computer in the options.

    i am using winXP in mu computer and the database computer has 2000..then how can i set in XP...plz hlp.

    It doesn't matter what version of Windows the other machine has, just set up an ODBC connection. I dont know where on XP you set it though, just try where I said before.

    i have tried it on the 2000 but i was not able to find the "OPTIONS" anywhere there where i can set the path.please define ur suggession where can i find that....

    Depends on which database you are using.. if it is access then there is a button for "select database", which allows you to browse for the file.

    Others just have a textbox for you to put the database name into, in which case you need to enter the full path.
