I know what you mean, but on the other hand I don't think Schumacher had any choice in the matter - you don't disobey your teams orders, no matter how big a star you are.
I though schmacher was quite noble in making Barichello get on the podium instead....

True, but it's not just last Sunday he has been anything but a model of sportsman-like behaviour...
Taking Hill out after he knew his race was over and therefore taking the championship
Attempting the same on Villeneuve a couple of years later
His "controversial" race-start antics of late
Nobody else would get away with those, let alone win a bloody award for it. The podium incident earned them both a visit to Mosley's House of Pain anyway so it was pretty pointless.

I agree, but thats what the FIA are complaining about isn't it?
I think they are planning to discipline the 2 drivers about what they did on the podium and just question the team about the team-orders.

It wasn't noble. It's called face-saving.

Chris, I know he's shown less than honourable tactics before, but I'm sure he's not alone in motorsport. At the end of the day, the guy is a driven driving genius, and the quantity of genius moments he has provided the F1 spectators with far outweights his "little indiscresions".
Whether or not he deserved that particular award is guess is debatable. If it is judges on pure domination, you'd have to say TIger and Schumacher are up there - I don't know of anyone else inmajor sport with such domination... but then again, did Ed Moses win this award for the 400m hurdles?
I've never heard of that award before - It reeks of a manufactured award, there to boost marketting in particular sports...
Glen, I dodn't know that it was the podium incident that all the fuss was about - if that is the case, then there is someone very anal in the FAI.. Farrari should suffer for this incident.....

Hard to say really, isn't it? I guess he could have influenced his team to get Barrichello to slow down...
Either way, whoever made the decision should be reprimanded, not the action on teh podium...

What if the order came from the Ferrari Head Honchos ?
Anyway, it is and it remains a disgrace to the sport whatever the reason may be

I think it did during the presention Schumacher let the other guy stand on the podium in the winners spot and hold up the trophy.

What if it had been the last race of the season?
What if Schumacher needed to win to become world champion?
Would it have been alright then?
Ferraris defence is that they will do whatever it takes to get the most points for their No 1 driver, until it is mathematically impossible for him to be passed in the championship. He could break his leg again (fingers crossed).
It is a team sport after all, riders in the Tour de France relinquish the lead to their team leaders all the time.
Another point is that Ferrari were above board in the way they did it. They could have quite easily got Schumacher into the lead during the last round of pit-stops. They wouldn't have even needed Barrichellos compliance, just a 'stuck wheel nut' or something.
I must point out that I'm not a Schumacher fan or a Ferrari fan.
Personally Eddie Irvine in a Jaguar winning the F1 title is my dream.
A car in BRG driven by a nutter.

Who did make the decision? (Not an answer to you, I'd like to know)
I think that their actions only make them a ****ing disgrace to the sport, and whatever they say is just meagre justification on their part...
Would you call it a case of too much sportsmanship?

Yeah - and I have Barichello in my fantasy F1 team so I'm well peeved. Imagine if, having seen the qualifiers and his much improving form you'd put a bet on him winning and that happened
