macrovision is an encoding technique so that you can't copy from DVD/SKY to VHS

Oh right
I've only just started looking into DVD players and trying to search for a feature that a product does NOT have is a tad tricky.
What make/model have you got?

picked mine up from teso's of all places, was a make I've never heard of (Dansai) but for 100 quid , it was multi region, NTSC , digital output (although it didn't come with a speaker set) and plays them really well

I've got a Playstation 2 which I use as a DVD player (as well as the obvious gaming too!), and there is no problem 'backing up' DVD's on to VHS...

I do believe I preferred my description
Why is Sky in on it?! I record off normal TV, that's the whole point of VCRs...when analogue gets switched off, *** are you meant to do then?!

Yeah the Dansai 852
I knew that model didn't have macrovision but I don't think you can get it anymore
The newer version 1010 has it on some of them but not all and I don't think there's anyway of telling before you actualy try the thing

i tried hooking my computer up to my VCR and recording but i still get the mix up. but then i downloaded a program so you can convert the .VOB (dvd file) in to a mpeg file on your computer (lower quality) and then i tried recording on to VHS from the mpeg file and it worked
