What brings you here??
This forum has been a huge asset to me, as I've been learning how to accomplish different taks with VB. I know that we all benefit from each others' experience and expertise.
I've been curious, if this isn't too intrusive, to know when/where you use VB the most.
I guess I fall into the hobbiest category. I have a BS in Computer Science, but am unfortunately unemployed right now. So I am spending my time working on a program to be used in a testing class.

I gotta say I really envy you guys that picked this up for fun. I guess I needed the structure/motivation of school to really learn programming (though I learned VB after I graduated from college). It actually wasn't until I was out of college that I realized how much I love programming. I think the stress of school/assignments overshadowed my enjoyment of it. That, and it took me a while to learn to take getting stuck in stride, and it was par for the course.

work.
lots and lots of work....
I did my college final project in C++ and sweated bullets to get the darned thing to work. Then rewrote the thing in 2 days in VB and thus decided that VB was the way for me to go.

Mainly work here... If I get stuck on a problem I start to post and usualy figure out what I did wrong before I hit submit. But occasionaly I 'take a break' and read/answer other posts (like right now )

Its soooo awesome to be getting paid to do what I love. Sometimes I go home after work and go straight into my own projects so i'm programming 16 hrs a day

Wellllllllllll
I get paid to do it at my job. And i should add that I probably would have been fired if it wasnt for this website! lol
I also use this site in my spare time to answer questions (i cant answer many but i try) and also to learn new things.
I DO take VB classes in school but I don't think I need this website for that since i had 102% in that class LOL
This is a great site though! I wish there was one of these for ALL types of programming languages with as many people as are here.

Hopefully, one day I will be also.
My dream is to produce some programs on my own, on my Web site and have people buying them so that I have income and can keep creating more and more and one day I shall rule the world.
Oh, damn, Bill Gates already beat me to the punch.

I started learning vb for fun, then as I got better at it I realized I could use this at work to make some things a lot easier on me. Now they have me doing all sorts of neat little projects, nothing ever real big or too complicated, just little things to make the stuff we do easier, faster, and/or more efficient.
I come to the forum mostly for fun, also to learn, you can learn so much just by reading along and searching, also to help when ever I can because so many people have helped me.

I think it's fun gettin a big fat paycheck at the end of the week
to do something that is actually more enjoyable than lifting
heavy things and moving them from basket to basket or having
buckets of nails dropping on my head.
and lord knows I've had more than my share of things dropped on my head.

Got into it because of work but ....
Well, I'm in college but interning at a custom computer manufacturer and I just got thrown into the software engineering group. Well, they gave me a project to do and it had a lot of database work. I had experience with C\++ but they said I could also use VB if I wanted to. So I picked it up and now I use it to do fun stuff at home too.
