Is it just me or is there a SERIOUS bug in Windows XP Home Edition!?!?
Hi all,
Is it just my PC or have I found a serious bug in WinXP Home? -
(This only works if Windows is installed on C:\ and it is the Home Edition)
Load Notepad
save a BLANK file as "C:\Program" - incude quotes (so there is no file extension and it saves in root C:\)
Try to load an EXE e.g. Winamp
Whenever I do that I get "<programname> is not a valid Win32 application". As soon as I delete the file, the error goes

Out of everyone who's replied, has anyone actually TRIED what I said to see if the bug really exists, or is it my computer screwing up?

So your saying if you save a notepad file named "C:\Program" and pull up any .exe file you get that error? That's seems kind of weird. Im dreading upgrading to XP especially since i am attempting to change my hd, processor and motherboard. WPA will probably have somthing to say about it.

probably best to change the hardware then upgrade
I think under WPA you're allowed 3 major hardware changes a month or something anyway so you should be cool

It reprogrammed the data controls in every one of my projects. It turned them into picture boxes.
It turned my boyfriend's mp3s into picture files.
It's a real pain in the arse

I had it installed for 2 hours. Then I formatted again. I didnt like the way it imbicilized everything. The wizard for finding file? that is simple on its own! you dont need a dog barking to help you

so take the time to de-imbilicize it...lots better than reformatting again.
