Angry I am Forbidden to view my folders...Um, why!?

Okay, I have a couple of folders in my main directory but I cannot access them, when I type in the url I get a 403 Forbidden message. Any idea what is going on here? I can use images and stuff on html pages from these directories but I cannot access the directories directly

    I can do this: <img src="directory1/image.gif">
but not this: http://www.mysite.com/directory1 - get a 403 Forbidden error when I try. Whats up?
If you think I am wierd, then thats YOUR problem!

I'll bet good money if you type the whole URL including the filename, it'll work fine

    e.g http://www.mysite.com/directory1/index.html

Okay it worked but a few more questions

It did work, but what is keeping me from going to /dir and seeing an indexed list?

no idea. I thought I had severly broken something when I got a forbidden message, then I tried typing the whole URL and it worked. I guess it's just refusing to supply the dir list for some reason or you've got more than 1 file with the word index in it's name perhaps

i had a very similar problem like this the other day, if you want like a directory list thing, you need to change the url slightly you need to add another / at the end

    so the url should read

    www.mysite.com/directory1/

this should work for you now

For security reasons, both IIS and Apache can be configured to deny directory browsing.

    Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

There's a "Directory Browsing" check box on the "Directory" tabs - right by the Read/Write/Execute check boxes in ISM.
