I've never realized how incredibly stupid teachers are. They're completely computer illiterate. As part of my A+ Certification class at school, we have to go out and fix all the computer problems in the school.

Instead of actually telling the teachers "Your printer wasn't plugged in" or "You plugged the monitor cord in the wrong place," we have two options to say. We can either tell them "There was a loose connection in the mainframe," or "There were some misconfigurations in the BIOS."

No matter what the problem is, that's what we're required to say just so they don't feel stupid. And everytime we say it, they look at us like "Oh yeah, I knew that. Go back to class."

our c++ teacher didnt really teach anything. she gave us a book and said learn. We know the thing cout, but thats about it. 1 year wasted. She never even said anything about using std; or whatever it is.....

Ill have to relearn it over the summer; ill need it for linux

One of the computer teachers back at my school actually wrote the only textbook for the advanced computing studies class - and he loved to drop that in every conversation he could...

But really what do you expect? Anyone with half a brain in the computing field could make at least twice as much as a teacher's salary, so often, you get non-computing teachers teaching computing classes...

Yeah. It must be difficult for them anyway. What they were taught a few years ago is totally outdated now, so with some things, they're clueless. There's always something new to learn, computer technology is changing continously, in a few years, we might be like them, so lay off them a little.

Actually, I was talking about normal teachers, not computer teachers.

They're almost so stupid that if you ask them where their mouse is, they say "Mice?! I'll call the janitor!"

My IT teacher at school was actually a music teacher, so she didn't have a clue bless her

Figure this out - in the US, secondary school teacher salaries average about one-third what a Senior P/A makes. If you could program well enough to do a great job teaching or be a P/A, what would you be most likely to do?



And Hobo - they aren't stupid - most of the ones who act like that are probably technophobes. (means they are afraid of technology but you knew that, right?) or are so far down financially they can't afford a home PC.

I'm sorry, but when they go all ballistic, yelling about how their "computers never work" and then one of us students goes in and finds out that all they needed to do was plug the printer in or hit the "Power" button...that's pretty damn stupid.

But hell, if I had the mad skills, I'd go where the dough is. Then maybe after I've made enough, if I really wanted to be a teacher, then maybe I'd think about teaching.

That's just pathetic arrogance. No doubt they have numerous skills you don't. I imagine they sit there trying to teach you calculus thinking 'what a stupid kid'... right?
Perhaps if they spent every other waking hour in front of a PC, they'd know how to work it as well as you...

I think you're missing my point. Knowing that you have to plug something in before it's able to receive power is almost an instinct. You don't have to know jack-crap about computers to do it.

It's not like they don't know how to configure their hardware or anything like that. I can understand if they need help with that. But flipping the on switch or plugging it in? It's like their so intimidated by it that not even basic knowledge comes to mind when dealing with a computer.

Please stop attacking me. Ever since I've known you, you've had something against me.

By the way, I saw another guy with the same thing in his info as you. I don't know if he ripped you off, or you both found it somewhere else or what.

sometime id like to get in the head of a teahcer. Do they know of all the inuendos? do they see us doing what we shouldnt be but just ignoring it? What do they really think when they say "theres no such thing as a stupid question"?

My programming teacher always stresses about how we're not supposed to go on the internet otherwise we'll have our computer privilages supsended. But whenever someone is on the internet, he'll just walk right by as if he doesn't see a thing. Even from his desk, he can see every other computer, but never does anything. Unless...

If a student comes up and tells on another one, then he gets gives them a detention. But he never sees it himself. He's cool that way.

As for "no such thing as a stupid question," you know they can't fully believe that.

my computer teacher is great, no only is he a ****in genius he gives us pretty well complete access. He leaves his account on all day in his office need to get yourself some more print credits, go ahead, need to change some stuff about your account, go ahead. its great. he is completely lax about what we use the internet for. He actually told me to go get a crack for this program he needed to use, he would take care of all the porn banners that followed
