Talking Yes, Indeed: Beta testers needed again!

    Hello!

I really need some testing on my 'Mp3 Explorer'-Mp3 player with playlist and more . Your can download it here from my yahoo briefcase:
    http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/f6aaa...Crq08AtPjUttqw
    ^
    | That link doesn't work correctly, try this one: www27.brinkster.com/mediastar click 'click here' one that page.

Tell if the link doesn't work I'll try to find another place to upload it to.

Yes, It IS an exe-file, that's cos I don't wanna give away my code, it's no virus or sumthin' Trust me (or sue me if it IS a virus, cos it aint )

And if you're missing some files pls tell me, I tried to make the installation compact, so it could be something is missing.

    Hope you like it!

    Alexander.

BTW, I only have Win98SE to test it on so pls tell me if it works on Win 95/2000/ME/XP

It's an ok MP3 player. It's lacking alot of bells and whistles(Volume,FFw,Rew, EQ,Video, etc...). I dunno why you're afraid of letting your source code out. THere's like 15 million MP3 players out there and none of them are better than WinAmp which is free. SO why not share the code?

I don't see what everyone thinks is so great about winamp. basically it's a lot of flash for something that only needs to play mp3's. If arsmakman adds a volume control it will be everything I want from an mp3 player. too many apps add stuff just because they can and turn what could have been a good app into more bloatware.

Give them something, and they'll want more. It's like once you got something, you want more features. In the beginning I would ONLY listen to music. Now I'm there with the skins, that stupid minibrowser, the bookmarks and the equalizer. For no reason. Some weird psychology.

BTW, clicking the progressbar will make the mp3 jump to that point.

I don't want skins. In fact, I don't even want to look at the player. I want to start my tunes and make the player disappear. Actually, I'm looking forward to getting my stereo back so I can delete all these crappy mp3's off my computer and listen to good recordings again.

Maybe I should make color-scemes (is that spelled correctly?), So not only blue but also red, green, purple and black etc.. That's not really a lot of work.

Winamp isn't bloatware. It runs very fast and very well. The main thing i like about Winamp is the Equalizer and the fact that it is skinnable, with alot of cool skins available.

Another thing you should add to yours arsmakman is a search feature that will locate and highlight songs based on a search string.

The onlything i dont like about Winamp is trying to find one certain song in a list of 500+

I guess it just depends on what you want. To me skins are bloat. No practical purpose. So for me, the smallest, most efficient mp3 player is what I'll use.

I really want to make an equalizer, but have abolutely no idea how.

    I mean on the Playlist.

If you can't add an EQ atleast add Treble,Bass and Balance, that's pretty easy.

Here's a mirror link. It's not an update (yet), but I'm working on a better version (different colors, volume & balance).

    www.redrival.com/sweeet/Mp3Explorer.zip

Here I have a 1 gb datatransfer limit per month, so that oughtta do it for some while. (Bout 2000 uploads)

Downloaded and installed well (Win 98)

When I resized, I got an Error.
(When the size was smaller than the FolderList Box)

My personal pref would be to have it startup not full screen,
    about 60%. See attached.

    Great Job

hello, tested the program and installed fine (windows 2000 professional w/ 1.44 ghz CPU & 256 mb ram). however, when i load it up and try to add only a few mp3 files from a folder w/ about 1000 mp3s in it, it adds the entire directory instead of just the few songs (i hit add selected, maybe that was wrong?). anyway, also fix the capitalisation of the menu items as well as rename it to "File" not "Menu". This is part of the standardisation that microsoft wants to implement in all software running under its OS.

also have the ability to resize some of the elements, like the browse window...otherwise a decent program, but it still needs a bit of work. also slows down and freezes up when adding a lot of mp3s to the playlist!

--> 'Add selected' should work... Maybe you clicked 'Add all'...

--> I will keep the 'Menu'-caption I don't think 'File' is apropiate (err, I sure I didn't spell hat right, but you know what I mean).

--> I don't know how to prevent the program to get slower if the playlist get bigger.

--> I'll add some code to prevent the window to get too small.

BTW, I think the .mpl-playlists load really fast, compared to what winamp (or Mp3 Explorer) does with the m3u-playlists

vshammas is right. It should be file. A menu is never named menu, so if you don't like file, then think of another name that is appropriate. Like File, for example. Menu is just weird.
