    ISA to PCI conversion

I would like to redesign an I/O mapped ISA bus card to PCI. I know PCI slots have their own decoding already done. Can I use that and enter a different I/o address in the software? Would I be able to use existing software without modification? I don't necessarily need plug & play functionality if that improves comaptibility with exisiting software or makes the card appear just like it was plugged into an isa slot. Thanks for your help.

Can the plug & play software be added later?

If this is not the place for a question like this, could someone refer me to a message board where I could post this question??

    Thanks for any help!

you wouldn't be getting the full 32 bit range. an PCI goes deeper so it hits more slots on the card. you will notice that some cards have those copper tabs staggered up and down so it hits the top and bottom of the slot.
