Do you partition your hard drive(s)?

I do. It's nice to be able to format C:\ and still have all your MP3's and stuff

I used to have about 6 partitions on one 20 GB drive, but then I discovered the joys of sanity and have three now: System, Programs and Documents, and To Burn. But I also mapped a ton of drive letters on the network and I have the DVD, Burner, and ZIP, and occasionally the jukebox when it's plugged in, so it goes up to *checks* the I drive (the network drives occupy the end of the alphabet).

I dont have enough space to partition (only a 10 gig HDD for Windows. The other 6 gig drive is on Linux).

I have 6 partitions. One for Win98, one for Win2K, one for downloads, one for data (mp3's source code, etc), one for games, and another for whatever I decide to throw in it.

well i have 4 one large 28 giger for windows and programs and music and data, 500mb one linux swap, one 9.5 gig linux native, then one 2 gig Z: which is classified as hidden where i keep my more sensitive data

Maybe I will take Linux off my other drive... Its not like i actually use it, when I have one that is just as good accessible through telnet 24hrs a day.

I thought about it but with the prices of drives being so low im just going to by a new hd. Maybe even two.

I just have to figure out what my motherboard supports and then i can make my purchase. ATA\66 or ATA\100

If you have a low rpm, then partioning it might help increase speed (slightly). Otherwise, if you have a 7200rpm, I would just go with Dilenger4's idea and buy a new HD.

I have 2 partitions... 1 per physical drive.

On Drive C, I got Windows98, MP3s, documents, programs, source code, etc... It's a 40GByte drive.

Drive D is an 8GByte drive and WAS my original harddisk. I switched everything over when I bought my 40. The 8GByte drive is in exactly the same state that it was when I just got the 40GByte drive. It has EVERYTHING still on there in case something screws up... Then I got another drive I can use to recover any errors(Not really neccessary... a waste of space - but I still got like 30Gigs!)

I got some other little harddrives(40MByte, 102.5MByte, and 127MByte) that are just laying around - If I get 2 more IDE controllers I can put everything on there. You can have a maximum of 4 IDE controllers on your computer. Each controller can have 2 drives. With 4 controllers, you can have up to 8 physical IDE Drives(1CD/7HDD, 2CD/6HDD, etc...), provided you have 8 drive bays(+1 for the floppy) and your power supply has enough connectors

I have none right now. Im trying to find one more hard drive (as cheap and big and fast as possible) so I have have 2+ os's, then partition them all.

I ought to keep seperate partitions for apps and data, but I'm too lazy, so I just use one.

well I know exactly where every single file on my computer (that i have ever used) is so if i want to back it up i just copy it to one big folder and go
