    Desperate!!!

    Hi folks!
I follow IT in school and we have to make an ASP assignment! I've tried to do this but it's not working out at all! I think we're not ment to like eachother.
I've posted my code below. Can someone pls take a look at it? It has to be done before thursday... Otherwise I'm flunked!

The meaning of this project is something like the www.looknmeet.com or asl.to sites! You've got a DB with the user information. People can come and visit the default page and search for member with certain property's. (Like the same sex and age category,...) The users can then visit those websites. They have got to be able to create a new user, change their details, and search between the users. The site needs NO layout! Just the code will do.
Someone want to help me, a desperate ASP beginner?

    Kind Regards,

    Pieter

PS: If you found someone's answer helpful, please be so kind to rate that person.
    Thanks.

Post your specifc problem, and/or question and I'll be happy to try and help you.

I've already done the create user, which can be found here, http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=165626

    The other 2 aren't a big problem.
Use UPDATE to let the user change his profile, and use SELECT to do the search.

Btw, If it's homework, wouldn't you be able to do it yourself?

Posts like this always amuse me. Don't you have a text book if this is for use in a class? How long did you have to complete this project? What did you do instead? I'm with Joan.. I'd be happy to help with specific problems but I'm not going to do your assignment for you. The sad reality is, if you can't do the work, you should flunk. There are enough unqualified developers out here getting jobs as it is..

    I don't think that's fair!

I go to school to learn. You're not supposed to go to school when you already know the answers! And you can't say I didn't try because otherwise I couldn't have posted my try's!
I'm already working on that for 4 days but it doesn't seem to work out. And on your comment about failing programmers getting jobs: I'm still in high school! I've still got a long way to go!
I think it's terrible that you trashed my thread. Nothing more than that!
I didn't want someone to make MY assignment! I wanted someone to make something like my assignment! Because everything has to be in dutch.(variablenames,interface,...) So I still have got a long way to go. And also the content and graphical stuff needs to be done.
    Oh well, let me suffer.
    No thx needed here.
    Kind Regards,

    Pieter

I'm with Monte and Joan. If you have a specific question, we are all more than happy to help. But just a general "do this assignment so I can reverse engineer it" is going to get ignored.

I agree with Monte that there are enough unqualified people out there with programming jobs. I think that is one of the reasons VB is so prevalent in the business world (programmers who are wannabes and managers who don't know the difference).

While I'm on this rant... I'm sick of questions like "how do I pass variables in JavaScript". You pass variables the same way you do in a half dozen different languages. That is a basic programming concept that I expect everyone to either know, or learn from reading any number of well written books. Then people can start asking questions like "How do I preserve the data type when passing values to a function in a loose typed language like JavaScript" or "Can I pass by reference"?

'Course, those questions can easily be answered by looking in the documentation, so I guess it is a bad example

    Geesh, lighten up guys!!!!!!!!!!

I may be asking what you call "stupid simple" questions sometimes. I did auto body repair for 15 years, auto appraisals for 5 years, and now I'm learning computer programming. I've been doing that for about 2 years now. (did computer repair for 3 years). With the help of forums like these, I've developed an app that I was lucky enough to be hired to do, now I'm trying to convert it to a web app. I read books myself, but sometimes it don't make sense untill someone points it out to ya.

Thanks to all for your helping me.

The difference is.... you ask specific questions to a solve a problem. Not 'make this work for me'.
