Whenever I run VB5, sometimes I all of the icons in Windows become mixed up. For example.
all zip files have the desktop icon
all txt files have the IE icon
---------------
If anyone experience these anomalies please reply back and explain what might be happening and if it will make all my compiled .exe's do to other user's computers. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

This has happened to me occasionally. I'm not sure exactly why, but I think it's more of a Windows issue, not necessarily VB's fault. I'd be interested as well if someone had a technical explanation for this. There may be some Windows "tuning" you can do to avoid this problem; I also know that you can fix this with "TweakUI" (a free download from MS that works with Win98 - I'm not sure if it works with other OS's). The problem is also fixed when you reboot.
I'll be watching this post to see if anyone has more details about this (I'm sure they will, as there are a lot of talented folks who are regulars of this forum).

This is more of a theory answer than technical, but i belive it happens when you attemps to use the .icon field of a form. It's possible that vb is accessing the icon dll's and mixing some data around in them. But since everything fixes after a reboot i wouldn't pay much attention to it.
