No, to be honest with you, I have never been to one, not for any other reason than I can't be bothered with big crowds...And I guess when you live in Sydney, you tend to be a little blaise about the whole thing.
But it is a funny spectacle, if getting a little commercial these days.

Pffft... it's a bloody joke that thing... it ****s me for so many reasons, none of which have anything to do with gayophobia or anything similar...
And it was many weeks ago... typical bloody seppo... always 3 steps behind the rest of the world...

Actually, a large proportion of attendees aren't gay or lesbian, they just go for something to do.

Why did they get let off paying for police presence and all that? It's a frickin' party for christs' sakes - they're not doing anything to help society...

Us americans always did have a hard time keeping up with homosexual communities current events. Seems like the aussies have it all covered though.

Not 'tax' in the literal sense, but rather fees that all events have to pay. For some reason, (I can hazard a guess) the mardi gras got out of paying that stuff, whilst charities have to pay for police presence, public liability insurance and the rest... it's a ****ing joke...

I'm dead tired - that's for sure - spent all weekend on an assignment, that went nowhere, and this morning my g/f woke me up at 6.20...
I mean really, just 'cause it's her birthday, what gives her the right, you know?

ahhhh ok i see. Im sure that they get the same treatment over here in the states. There is a big thing going on over here in San Francisco where some gay org has been given a building by the local state and they hold gay events like the so called "Mr. drag queen dance" and "leather day". To me it's just an excuse to bend each over and....... well.

This is the first time for this lot, I believe. No excuse though.
I hate it when 'minorities' claim to be seeking to get accepted, and instead they want more of everything than everybody else. Fine they're gay, who gives a ****, really? No reason to waste my money on them...

This year vote RJLOHAN! Remember, a vote for RJ is a vote against stupid, cowardly, wine-drinking poofs. Why settle for wino's. RJ is like the stuff he drinks - hard!

Well, you did say I get to be in charge of the tanks and stuff, right?
Seriously.. I think the world needs leaders who don't take **** off of people. But in the same vein, that means they have to be decent people as well. Otherwise we get *******s like, well, just think of any world leader who is an aggressive *******.
But spineless cowards are just as bad. I'll vote for you man. As soon as I get this Australian English down, I'm applying for citizenship. One question though. Do I have to drink or can I be a tea totaler. I'd hate to fail cuz I can't hold my liquor.

Ummm... you gotta be able to sink a few tinnies with me...
Don't worry though - we got real beer out here - oh wait - you were stationed in Germany, right? Well, there goes that comment... anyway, after a hard day of running over student protesters in Sydney streets, you'll want nothing more thana few coldies...
Now, we need to think of a catch-phrase...

Sounds like u are on the tail end of a chinese whisper there RJ... I mean do u really think that they dont pay public liability insurance et al? As with any event like this the govt may make measured concessions eg free police in order to gain larger returns. And besides this 'free' vs 'paid' police is very new here and only applies to certain events.
Oh and down with the communists!

No, I was ranting. They got free police though. IT's stupid. As if making the organisers pay for police has ANY bearing on who turns up...
It's just a pathetic vote-seeking attempt by the pollie ******s...
