PC Wont Powerup

I've been working on this PC, and the bugger just wont turn on. The switch is connected, power is connected to the motherboard and hard drive, it's plugged in, it has memory...

Is the power supply shot or is there something else I'm not realizing here?

Power supply won't even go on or blank screen?

If it's totally no power, clear the CMOS. My system did that once..scared the hell out of me..but i tried clearing CMOS just for the hell of it.

Nothing on the screen? Try clearing CMOS also

but also re-seat video card, etc...

Powersupply wont turn on. No power whatsoever. Button is pushed. Nothing happens. One of those dealies.

This kind of happens to my old comp, if you hit the case where the PS I can get it to start most of the time

. Its a dying PS but it runs o about 60 % of the time o well.

perhaps something has slightly shorted unplug from the wall wait for a minute and then plug it back in and try again and that might fix it

or try a different lead incase the plug has fused

This isn't the problem...

Grimlin - I've thrown it at the wall a few times, no luck. Or...maybe that started the problem?

Did you clear the CMOS like I instructed?

Can you try another power supply? Just head to the computer store, buy one, return it later

it is probably the power supply, are you sure you plugged the switch to turn it on in properly on the mobo, on mine the pins are spaced really close and i almost stuck the power turn on thing in the wrong pins

erm is the power supply to the mobo AT, or ATX 'cos if it is AT you may have the cables on the mobo the wrong way round ??

look in your mobo manual, it should instruct you were 2 terminals are, cross those 2 terminals with a screwdriver and your cmos is reset. make sure you have the right 2 terminals though, and in the meantime there can be no power going to your computer (unplug it or hit the powerbar). Look in your mobo manual first

There is usally a jumper that resets the CMOS and it is written on the Mobo if you look hard enough

Actually clearing the CMOS is exactly the procedure you do to clear a BIOS password

I have probably done it 10 or 12 times. I tend to experiment with my computer ALOT. I say, "hmm i wonder what would happen if i try " & Insert Risky Procedure Here & " .... oops it looks like my computer is messed".

i had an abit board that refused to turn on if i had the cpu settings incorrect
